Steve Earle - I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive
Tom Waits - Bad As Me
Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator
Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band - How I Go
Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Don't Explain (biggest surprise of the year)

Johnny Winter - Roots
Moreland & Arbuckle - Just a Dream
Pallas - XXV
Rush - Time Machine 2011 Live In Cleveland

Borealis - Fall From Grace (metal, not quite prog metal and not quite power metal)

Within Temptation - The Unforgiving (heck, even requiem156 over at GJ likes this, and he usually makes fun of my music :embarrassed: )

Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events

Symphony X - Iconoclast

Steven Wilson - Grace For Drowning

Redemption - This Mortal Coil (prog metal a-la Dream Theater/Fates Warning)

Haken - Visions (prog metal, Haken is the darling prog metal band over at progarchives)

Serenity - Death & Legacy (power metal)

Theocracy - As The World Bleeds (Christian power metal....move over, Stryper!)

Myrath - Tales Of The Sands (Power/prog metal a-la Symphony X, all the way from Tunisia!)

I conclude that Tig buys more music than I do!

I really like

Wilco, The Whole Love

Foo Fighters, Wasting Light

The Decemberists, The King is Dead

And plan on likeing Tedeschi/Trucks, Revelator, once I give it to my wife for Christmas.

Opeth - Heritage
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt II
Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Mastodon - The Hunter

...and although an old album, I have to add Steven Wilson's brilliant mixing work on the 40th Anniversary Edition of Jethro Tull's "Aqualung".
That album finally sounds the way it always should have. :)

Bon Iver - S/T

The Decemberists - The King Is Dead / Long Live The King

Tom Waits - Bad As Me

Iron and Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

I think the only new album I bought this year was Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters. And that was only because I knew Theodore loves them so much.

and though it's not actually out yet, and might not be till 2012, The Return of the Son of the Bride of the Night of The Peekertones promises to be pretty damn hot.

It was a strange year for me, as I think I heard like 2-3 albums in total this year. The whole year, at least musically, kind of slipped past me.

Tried to like Revelator, couldn't.

Really liked Warren Haynes' Man in Motion, and Gregg Allman's Low Country Blues.

I thought the Old 97's Grand Theater Vol 1 was one of their best records to date. Then they came out with Vol 2 and it's just as good if not better.
Sky Full of Holes by FOW is really good, too.

The only new albums I bought were Old 97's Grand Theater Vol 1 and 2. I'd pick them as my favorites this year.
