Still, that's nuts.
Maybe if I was transporting transplant organs or something, but I figure I can go replace any contents I might lose in the bear attack for less than $400.
I mean, a 12 pack of PBR and some bologna sammiches only cost a few bucks.
 
It's bear resistant. So when the hungry bear finally realizes he can't get in the icebox, he'll look inside the nearby tent for something to eat.

But this is for yuppie camping. It protects your brie and Dom Perignon.
 
They are actually very popular with offshore fishermen. These and a couple similar made coolers actually really do keep ice longer, which matters a bunch if you are hauling a couple thousand dollars worth of bait or fresh catch and are many miles offshore. Especially if you are out for a multiple day trip. Plus they are pretty durable. Inshore guys will sometimes use them to stand on for poling or site fishing. I dont have a need for one and would have a hard time spending that kind of money but for those who need a high performance cooler, it makes some sense.

I'll buy that.
But Ace Hardware in Oklahoma City ain't marketing to offshore fishermen. They're selling to guys with bass boats who are never more than ten minutes from shore.

This is true. And boutique amp builders are selling to balding fat guys who have never played in a band.
