WTF is a Logarithmic Overdrive?

It almost works like a mix - the dry note comes through and the amped signal is boosted and fed back into the input of the amp which is the fuzzy sound beasue the fed-back signal is capable of overdriving the amplifier circuit.

Funky.

Yeah but you can still hear the dry-ish signal coming through.

I take back what I said in my above post - it's not really a dry signal because it's gone through the amplifier circuit - but it's dry in relation to the what come back through the amp from the feedback circuit.

A feedback circuit is normal for amplifier circuits. That one just does something with the signal before it gets back to the input of the amplifier.

Just watched the demo. That fizzy sound is pretty much precisely what I got with this one IC swap I did in my tri-od. On the ts9 and bright settings it sounded just like that. 15 cent IC. If anyone wants to know I could try to switch out and see which one it was. I didn't like it that way but found it interesting as an experiment.

In case anyone is interested, the Boss DN-2 Dyna Drive is today's STOD for $29.99.

For $30, it's probably a lot cheaper than the Lumberjack.
