Would the Dead have been a better band with Marshall amps?

What if they also played everything through Rat pedals into the Marshalls at full volume and no one died but the audience went deaf and didn’t hear them any more?

Let's just say it's a good thing they didn't. It's common knowledge that stacking Rat pedals can ignite the atmosphere, and then it's game over for real.

Really? We need to send hat man to go talk to zany Einstein to verify that. Let’s just hope no one insults elderly Iron Man or there’s three hours of our lives we’re never getting back.

I think here and there during a epic jam climax Jerry's guitar could have benefited from a bit more "girth".

They weren't listening anyway. They were busy telling everybody how stoned they were at last weeks Dead show. Man.

And BTW where is Beato when you need him?

Better safe than sorry.

Defiantly.
But why go for obscure UK amps instead of readily available California ones?

Sure. Not to mention the trouble with transformers, maintenance, and whatnot. I guess hypothetically Hiwatts might have worked in a TGD context if they were after something very specific and maybe a bit exotic.

I have very little experience with Twins and only owned one for like a month ages ago when used ones were still affordable. I probably had no idea what I was doing, but the amp simply refused to break up, or maybe it had been modded in some way, I dunno. I'd think it was just as loud as a half stack, if not louder because it was so clean. Just a massive sound and a ridiculously heavy amp.
