What's the best 'Stephan King movie'?

The Shining. However, I think it was Stanley Kubrick's interpretation of the book that made that movie.

And by "ending", we mean "last 1200 pages".

Yeah, Im'a go with "everything after the halfway point of Wolves of the Calla."

Although...(sigh)...the recent injection of story 4 1/2 doesn't suck. Had he not felt the need to imbue 5 through 7 with his own personal tragedy and impending sense of doom, we might have had a proper ending. A pocketful of mumbles, such are promises.

I also quite enjoyed "It" and "The Langoliers".

I couldn't get into any of the "Dark Tower" books at all despite being a King fan.

Also The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption as favorites

I would like to see all the "made for TV Mini series" ones redone for proper cinema.

I mean really "It" and "The Stand" deserve much better treatment than they have gotten so far. Langoliers also, I loved that story as I read it.

They announced their breakup earlier this year (or possibly last year) IIRC.

Yeah, one of their founding members died and they decided to pack it in. King quipped "We've been playing together for 20 years and most of us still don't know how to play a proper F chord... who wants to see that?"

Shawshank
Green Mile
The Shining
and for entertainment purposes like "The Stand"
For some obnoxious reason, I also like "IT" until the end where it failed.

Not much to add except that the movie ending of The Mist is one one of the most depressing fucked up endings ever.

But:

Shawshank
Stand By Me
The Green Mile

I remember enjoying the Storm of the Century miniseries when it was first released; I was a preteen... But I strongly suspect that it would not hold up all that well to revisiting. Though i would note that Colm Feore is an underused actor and should get a leading villain role sometime.

I didn't know The Mist was Stephen King. While the ending was disturbing, at least it was something different than the same thing we have seen one hundred times already.
