Apparently we were invaded with Google bots or something. My web hosting is only for 50 simultaneous connections...did the place go down while I was working?

People follow the links from HC, TGP, YouTube...

(especially HC, since people who post at both places are starting to talk about this place over at that place)

It's all bound to add up eventually.

Thats a pretty massive jump, though....about half the time when you see "8 users and 4 visitors" half the visitors are bots from Yahoo and Google crawling posts and whatnot.

It would be nice to get traffic like that, though :)

We should get mods with banhammers equipped to keep out the trolls and vermin. I know Mark doesn't like the idea, but I come here to avoid all that crap on HC. :idea: We are a much more civilized group no?

At this point since I'm on here 90 hours a day :)o) its not a problem..we actually had a forum-wide discussion about it several months ago and most of the forumites actually preferred not having mods at that time.

If things really do pick up then I'll have to revisit that because I won't be able to stay on top of everything. I won't have this turn into OJ or Amps....

I like both just fine...

GJ has its drawbacks, but I don't think that those drawbacks could be eliminated without also eliminating a good deal of what makes GJ fun and unique. I've been posting there for almost 10 years now, so it kinda feels like home. And honestly, it's improved a great deal over the past couple of years, with a couple of good mods running things and some well-deserved strikes of the ban-hammer.

I also love it here, especially in that there are some great people here who don't post at GJ that frequently any more... but it's relatively slow, and some lines of discussion - both legit and otherwise - simply won't fly here.

I'm of a similar mind. Since this is basically my forum I obviously spend most of my time here but I check in on GJ (and one thread in EG) everyday. I also tend to post things in GJ that I feel are totally inappropriate for this place....:embarrassed:

It seems like GJ has kind of leveled out in recent months with less B.S.

It has. :)

There are still a few who imo shouldn't be let back in after repeatedly getting banned though. Once you've been banned that often, it's chronic imo, you just can't behave over a longer period of time...it's very possible to have fun without banninations.
And it really takes a lot to get banned over there :wink:

I'll leave it at that. :embarrassed:

I'll second all that too, GJ is a blast. I don't have the mileage there that some folks do, but I can certainly hold my own in a troll bash.

I like both just fine as they are. Once I weaned myself off my disgusting Political Party habit, I felt much better. :embarrassed:....The Lesson Loft is pretty good usually and GJ is harmless fun most of the time.
