What was the GREATEST live show you ever saw...really? Like, for real....no lies.....

I put this list together a couple of years ago for a thread over at HCGJ, and then some viral "How Many Concerts Have You Attended" post made the rounds on Facebook. So I've tried to keep this updated.

I've seen very few bad shows, and probably more really good ones than mediocre. But if I had to pick a few off the top of my head I'd say:

* The first time I ever saw Richard Thompson. That was at Tipitina's in New Orleans, 1992. I've seen some truly mind-bending shows of his since then, but that one's a sentimental favorite.

* I've seen Gillian Welch and David Rawlings in a small bar here in Nashville quite a few times. That's a treat.

* Ditto for Guy Clark. I saw him in a tiny bar here in town with maybe 20 other people. It was a snowy night and no one wanted to come out.

* Jane's Addiction around '90 or '91 were ferocious. That's easily in my top five.

* Ray Davies with a full band was great.

* A full Laurie Anderson multimedia extravaganza on Owsley's party favors was otherworldly.

I've seen these folks from your list. So there. I've seen a number of them multiple times.
 
I don´t know about "best" concert, but those who were "the most jaw-dropping, heart stopping, mind melting" I can remember.

The first was Hendrix in Gothenburg April 1967, which was seriously mind melting.

A second mind melting experience was Peter Brötzmann´s group at Nefertiti in Gothenburg 1974. A very small club where it was impossible to hide. Here´s a clip from Warzaw the same autumn, where the group is called "Peter Brötzmann´s Quartet". But what name had the group in real life?

On your list I've seen those. Man, I have seen a lot of shows because that doesn't even scratch the surface for me.
 
The show with the most energy I have ever seen was The Mars Volta about 2 years ago :eek: That was intense

My favorite show I have seen would either be Drive-By Truckers or Radiohead.
