Saturday, rode 21 fast miles and cut back to home, expecting rain that never showed up. Took Mrs. T to an Indian food place where the service is slow but the meals are always tasty.
Sunday, rode 33 quick miles. Legs be all toasty. Nap time!
This is the first week since early October since I rode over 100 miles. (7 miles Wednesday) No wonder I got slow and fat!
Took the boy to the Museum of Natural History. Separately, it was finally nice enough to get the tricycle my sister bought him for his birthday outside, and he had some fun with that. Doesn't understand the pedals, or why he shouldn't stop in driveways. We'll have to work on those.
Long show, got home at like 1
0 am, perfect timing with DST hitting.I remember having to add blocks to my tricycle pedals just to reach them.
Interesting gig on Friday night. The producer of Jersey Boys is also producing a rock musical that my boss wrote, and he likes us, so he hires us for his private affairs (annual Christmas parties, etc.). Anyway, Friday was his 70th birthday party. He's uber wealthy, so he rents out an entire restaurant in midtown. That also means he's got some interesting friends -- high ranking politicians, celebrities -- you never know who's going to show up. And there are ever only 30-40 people at these things, tops.
So, anyway, Joe Piscopo shows up. Super nice and humble. We asked him to come up and sing "NY, NY", and he did. He was great. We sucked (someone in our crew had handed out the wrong chart for it). He kept stopping us and goofing on us about it, hilariously. I guess he'd come prepared with a karaoke track of other stuff, too, so he signals our sound guy to start one of them. It was "That's Life" by Sinatra, which I knew how to play (thanks to DLR's version on "Eat 'Em And Smile", admittedly). I even caught the modulation part way through. Also, no one else knew it so I was the only one playing along with the track. Joe came over right after and thanked me for playing on it, and said, "Hey, you caught the modulation, too!" and started asking me about my gear, commenting on my Les Paul and pedalboard, etc. He actually plays, as it turns out. Anyway, super nice guy, super humble. Just a regular dude.
Please tell me you quoted Danny Vermin back to him. Please.
Where did you move in Ohio?Friday -worked from home. It was the first night I actually was able to chill and do nothing in the new place.
Saturday - drove back to the old town to pick up a few things. Was gonna visit the folks, but got in a bit late. Wife and I chilled in the hotel after overeating at dinner.
Sunday - checked out of the hotel, then stopped at the storage facility to pick up a few random things. Dropped the wife off at a friend’s house, as she is going to hang for a couple of days to oversee the hauling of the rest of her shit..., er, I mean, “our”stuff to the new place. I then continued on back to the new home in Ohio with the above-mentioned random things.
