Weekend Wrapup

My last day of work was on Tuesday. On Wednesday I completed paperwork for my new job and took the boy to the doctor. On Thursday my guitar arrived. On Friday the guitar went to the tech. Saturday I went to fucking New Jersey. Today I had a nice nap. New job starts tomorrow.

I played Friday and Saturday night at the same club with the two bands I am playing with.I have a great time in both bands, and love playing this club so it was great!

Sunday-took my daughter and her boyfriend to lunch.

Friday night: Drank in Oakland
Saturday morning: Went to gym in Moraga
Saturday night: Ate and drank in Oakland
Sunday morning: Had breakfast in Alameda
Sunday evening: In process

Thursday night - went to a dinner event and met Colonel Chris Hadfield.
Friday night - went to see my old guitar teacher play in one of his many bands. The most amazing part of the night was when someone (jokingly I hope) is called out for Ice Ice Baby and they transitioned the intro of whatever it was they started to play and did a power trio, rocked up version of the song and morphed into Fresh Prince of Bel Air. As crazy as it sounds, it was awesome.

Saturday - I did a bunch of work on my pedal build then we went to see our friends' band play an early night (5 - 9) at a new for them venue. Everyone thought the night was going to be a bust but a lot of the band followers showed up and there were a good number of venue regulars. It was quite a rockin night for such an early gig. And I think we found our new favourite burger joint.

Sunday - just about wrapped up the pedal build as far as circuitry is concerned. I've got the week to finish up the details before the contest deadline.

Friday - worked from home, then did some errands.

Saturday - crappy day outside, so spent a good chunk of the day setting up the Jem Jr. and playing with some software demos, including Scuffham S-Gear :thu:

Sunday - another crappy day. Crocked some pork ribs. Had to go to GC to pick up some string block inserts after I lost one in the Jem :annoyed:. Watched GoT.

Fri. Didn't do much. On Wed. I screwed up an ankle hiking when a rock or tree branch rolled out from under my foot as we were going down a hill. Been stiff and sore since. Went to work. Boring.

Sat. Rained all day. Took wife to church in Madison. Went to Barnes and Noble and Target while I waited for her. Went to Culver's for food. Got email saying my photo at the Bennett Museum had been framed and hung and inviting me to a reception for the photo contest finalists this Saturday. Problem, I'm going to be in Nashville this Saturday. Went to work. Busy but boring.

Sun. Watched F1 race. Took a cruise up to the Dells. Came home and found massive, by our standards, traffic jam in town. Closed I-90/94 due to shooting. Routed traffic through my town. Went home. Wife worked a double so I didn't do anything else. Watched the last performance of the Ringling elephants. Came to work. Only 6 hours and 15 minutes until vacation starts. Probably should do something besides counting minutes until vacation starts.

party0Only 3 hours and 18 minutes until vacation starts. I really should do something more productive than clock watching.

Went to Chicago for the weekend. With my wife, kids, and in laws. We rented an entire floor of a downtown hotel (only a couple rooms per floor.) Had a half dozen different craft beers I've never tried before, some Giordanos pizza, dinner at Eataly, and a Cubs game on Sunday.

On Michigan Ave there is a two story tall candy shop that my nieces were going crazy in and it has a BAR on the first floor where they make stuff like martinis with pop rocks, margarita with sour patch kids, and root beer floats made with not your dads root beer. :)

Also, the top of the WGN building was lit up purple for Prince and looked cool glowing in the fog.

Friday - worked, stopped at Staples on the way home and bought a bunch of supplies to organize and file all of my paperwork...

Saturday - worked until 2:30, went home and threw a load of laundry in and spent the balance of the day organizing and filing...

Sunday - went to the grocery store, did some more laundry, worked on the filing...spent some time on the phone with the very accommodating woman I will be spending next weekend with...

Kind of a blah weekend. No golf, not enough running.

One humorous note, Saturday morning I was rummaging around in the top shelf of the pantry, and managed to knock over a jar of marinated artichoke hearts. It hit the tile floor like a hand grenade. That was an epic nasty mess to clean up.

Got a heartfelt email from Vernon Reid.
Nice to hear from you!

I have been fighting a cough and cold all weekend.
Friday - Class in the morning, then on to the office for some sessions. I also posted the final exam for one of my classes. I took Carol out for dinner; a friend of ours was supposed to play there but had to cancel.

Saturday - I had some AM appointments, then basically stayed in bed trying to rest and get better.

Sunday - I worked on clearing out the spare room where everything gets piled up, whichI also use as a studio. I have three new songs to record; I practiced the bass parts for them as well. Mainly just took it easy.

Not much. Saturday, went over to a friend's to watch the Caps game. F-ing Penguins.

Sunday, we had to keep ducking out of the house so potential buyers could check it out. Also signed the contract to buy the house across the street, so that is settled.

a long weekend of nothing.....

Friday at work I sprained my right wrist wrenching right at the end of the day . It hurt a little but not much. When I got home (I'm only 5 minutes away) I was in excruciating pain, couldn't even lift my arm. I had a beer and took an OXY which I luckily still had from my kidney stone episode last summer. It kept getting worse so I took another and then a shot of whisky. I watched the Giants get destroyed by the Mets while icing my wrist and then tried to go to bed but only got two hours of sleep.

Sat. woke at 2:30 AM from the pain and researched wrist braces, wrist sprains, fractures, broken bones thinking I might've broken it :embarrassed: around 5 am it started feeling a tiny bit better and then I went down at 8 and bought a wrist brace. The brace really helped and probably cut the healing time in half, well worth the 25 dollars. Went to the grocery store. Laid around all day r&r'ng

Sun. met my dad for breakfast , came home and just continued to r&r so i can go back to work today...watched 6 episodes of "Superstore" which is pretty funny, from the same guy who produced the office. it's basically the office but at a "walmart" and you don't have the annoying jim and pam.

Please be very careful mixing oxy's and alcohol. Both are CNS depressants and together have a synergistic effect that could lead to depressing respiration leading to death. That is some dangerous stuff.

Thanks for the concern Gary but rest assured I'm no pill junkie :embarrassed: by the fact that I still have have about 14 of the 20 they prescribed my last July. I saved them for if I had real pain which i did. I also chased them down with water. The beer was had before I thought about taking the oxy and the whisky was a couple hours after I took my second oxy about three hours after the first one

I did not mean to imply you were a junky, just pointing out that mixing the two is dangerous.
