My Brother, his wife and my sister are in town for the weekend so its been pretty busy. The highlights were my gig at the Blue Beet last night (there is video but the sound is terrible) and today we went out to Riverside National Cemetery to visit our dad (and Mrs W's grandfather) and then out to Olvera Street in LA to eat and walk around:

Friday worked...saturday worked...sunday worked...snow...inventory...laundry...

Fuck this weekend in it's meathead fucking face...

Mmm, margarita.

I was mainly getting my gear together for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Also lots of fancy eating - Friday was covered in the food folder. Yesterday made burgers from wagyu beef, outrageous. Today grilled salmon and also lobster tails (again).

Let's see. Friday school was cancelled in the AM. Had a couple of appointments in the afternoon. Finished work on the other two books that I am updating and re-releasing.

Saturday - A couple of morning appointments, then a quick trip to Lowes for a new water cooler. Our well water is not well and we can't drink it. Our old cooler sprung a leak, so we had to replace it. Then snow. Again.

Sunday - Went to church this morning, including a practice with the choir; a couple of other guitarists and I are going to accompany the choir on the Beatles' Help in a couple of weeks. Then basically took things easy for the rest of the day.

Gig on Saturday got cancelled due to snow. Just as well because Lino's mother-in-law died on Saturday, and I've been fighting a terrible head and chest cold for the past week, so my voice would have sucked anyway.

That's pretty much it. We've been watching it snow all weekend. Ready for summer.

Wife's been watching House of Cards all weekend, so I've mostly been left to my own devices. Some drinking, some playing. Spent way too much on a new wardrobe for my new job. I have off tomorrow, and it will be my last day off for quite some time.

Friday - went out for dinner and saw our favourite local band. Our friends from Niagara Falls, NY joined us.
Saturday - tried to run a bunch or errands and get my haircut. I got one errand done and the haircut.
Sunday - somehow got suckered into going to Costco while the Canada-Finland hockey game was on. Got an hour's work on my pedal projects done.
Monday is Family Day and is a day off for me. We're going to check out the ice shoves at Crystal Beach.

Friday, met my mother in law to get the title signed over and everything done for my new-to-me car. Total cost to me: $16. Nice. Took my son to see the Lego movie. Awesome day! :)

Saturday, took my daughter to play with the puppies at the local animal shelter, talked to the landlord and he's cool with us having a dog as long as it's a small one. Just gotta find the right one now. Had a very strange show in the evening, it was a charity event/birthday party thing for a friend of ours. We shared the stage with a contortionist, some acrobats, a fire eater, some burlesque dancers, a green day tribute and a Weezer tribute. It was pretty fun. Raised some money too. Also, met with management beforehand over dinner and discussed some really cool things that he's got in the works for us. Exciting! :)

Sunday, got three hours of sleep and have a horrific hangover. Ugh. Got some quality laying around time in with my daughter though. That's always nice. :)

Friday - work.

Saturday - work, started feeling funny.

Sunday - yup: full-blown cold :annoyed:, just in time for night-shift week. Luckily, got no calls last night.

Friday off, so I went to a resale shop where Mrs. T spied some ear rings she liked a month ago but forgot about. She was really surprised to see them (after I wrapped the box, put it in a bigger box and wrapped it). Restaurants are notoriously packed on V-day plus Friday, so I bought a few pounds of BBQ brisket, turkey and side items for us to dine on at home. Best Valentines day ever!

Saturday, rode 1 1/2 hours and came home with tired legs, thanks to the wind. Took it easy and watched USA beat Russia in a drawn out shoot out. Bought some produce at the local farm. Chinese food for lunch.

Sunday, rode 1 1/2 hours and the legs felt much better, but I have no endurance yet. The weather was mild with temperatures in the upper 60's so yard work was a pleasure. Really nice weekend overall, but tiring.

Worked on cleaning up my farrier's computer. His kids can really do a number on that thing.

Kidlet #1 has a cold, so she's been fun. Kidlet #2 has been real streaky on eating and sleeping. Yay. Can't wait till wife decides she's ready to move in with big sister. Two under two is a bad idea, mmmkay?

Went out to Denio's farmers market yesterday and got a pile of fresh fruit and veggies on the cheap. Some vendors even had apple bananas!

Have you seen the Bro Science Life video on crossfit?

My wife was out of town for the weekend, so Friday night was carryout and a couple redbox movies with me and the cats.

Saturday was a festival type gig that I helped run sound and record at called "South By South Bend". It was held at a venue called "The Pool".

It is an old high school that has been renovated into an apartment building but each apartment still retains elements of the original structure like the library, gym, typing, etc. The pool room has a staggered living space that is surrounded by railings and ladders. The occupants over the past few years have moved in a ton of extra furniture and use it as a venue for independent music performances.

There were maybe a dozen acts, each doing 3 to 4 songs, and then me scrambling around to re-mic each upcoming act. By the end of the day, the mic cables were a cluster fuck as we kept moving condensers, overheads, and dynamics around for cajon, djembe, uke, xylophone, acoustic guitars, fiddles, electric guitars and bass, and even a tuba.

The violin bow on the xylophone sounded like a cross between a synth and a theramin.

HOLY SHIT I WANT TO PLAY THERE! I've actually been in that apartment, years ago. Seriously awesome place. Using it as a small venue is one of the coolest things I've heard out of SB in a long time.
