No gigs this weekend. Pretty much worked, hung out with the family and painted all weekend. Had a PBR for Jeremy last night.

Friday - Brother-in-law in town this weekend. Went to dinner with some local family at Don Antonios. Had some of the best pizza ever, including a fried pizza which was amazing. It was like a fried calzone.

Saturday - Lessons. Restrung my Taylor. Came home, packed up my gear, and turned right back around back to Long Island as The Stand-Ins played our first show in Levittown. Had a pretty good gyro. Opened solo acoustic as Blank & the Blanks. Then the Stand-Ins played three sets. We played well, but there were some technical difficulties that will need to be addressed in our next rehearsal. Got home at 2am.

Sunday - Had chicken & waffles for breakfast. Came home and watched the Mets actually win. Took a nap. Watched the soccer game. Ate tacos.

Saturday's ride cut short at 1 1/2 hours. Still feeling weak from last week's virus I guess. Napped. Took Mrs. T out for a nice chicken and dumplings dinner. Relaxed birthday with no kids in the house.

Sunday, worked in the garden, repairing the damage the foundation repair guys left. Watched a few world cup games and took a luxurious nap.

Friday - day off. Did some stuff around the house. Went out to see our friend off on an adventure. He's going to cycle through the Rockies to raise awareness for Parkinson's. He has it bad. Had an amazing focaccia sandwich. Then we went to see our favourite band. I sat in again. It's getting more fun!
Saturday - not too much. More stuff around the house.
Sunday - fixed the electrical in my car, went out for Thai food, and then a drive around Niagara.

Friday - Kicked back as my whole week at work had been exhasting. The day before, Thursday, I flew in the morning up north to Newark, CA where we did some BCP testing. I returned later that day and got home about 8:30pm. Dammit it was a 15 hour day.

Saturday - Got in a 10 mile bike ride. Went to a new meetup session that is part of "The Association of Fingerstyle Guitarists". This was really cool session as I got to network with other fingerstyled guitarist. Here is the address for their website - www.afg.org

I could only stay for 2 of the 4 hours as I had a Private Party gig to go to. Unlike the week before, the temperature was 92 degrees in Montclair, CA (the start of Riverside county) at 3:30pm. Thankfully the temps started to drop and when we started a little after 5pm, it began to become more comfortable.

Ran my simple rig today - Fender Excelsior, Blues Pedalboard and my G&L ASAT.

Here is a link to my thread on the bluesboard

Sunday - Took Junior to work. Then I did some honey do's around the house as well as unloading of my truck. Took a nap as I needed some sleep and pretty much chilled.

Annie and my oldest stepdaughter Hannah are in Seattle for her grandmother's funeral. My other stepdaughter didn't feel like going so I took her to dinner and Barnes & Noble Friday after work. After she wanted me to watch TV with her and I experienced the hell of the Disney Channel until 11:30. I finally fell asleep after midnight and was awoken by my phone a 3AM by a homeless tweaker I made the mistake of trying to help. Finally fell asleep around 4:30 and woke up to the dogs barking at coyotes at 5:20.

Couldn't get back to sleep and had to go to work Saturday morning. I was a zombie all day and felt a cold coming on. I was on the guestlist for Fu Manchu at the Troubadour Saturday night. It took 2 hours to drive from Tustin to LA and I didn't have time to park so I valeted the car. The show was epic and when I went to get the car I was blocked in. I waited around for an hour and it was obvious no one was coming for the cars. Thank God I took the Mini Cooper and not the Land Cruiser. I executed a 99 point turn and managed to make it out with literally a fucking inch on each side in the dark. When I finally made it out I hauled ass home in under an hour. Got to bed around 2AM. Woke up at 5:30 to the kids next door playing basketball. After a little chat with my fucking asshole NFL Ref neighbor about his kids he can't control it was time for church. I had work after church and now I have a migraine and can't fall asleep

Weird weekend. Thursday night, bro in law called, said Barry, the host of the party I was going to run sound for, had a mild heart attack. He might be out of the hospital Saturday, and they still might have the party for the kids but, no music stuff going on. Do you still have the tickets to Green Acres Music Fest? I said yes I do, so we were going to go after all. Friday, he called back, said they were taking him up to Chicago. Party was completely canceled.

Saturday: Bands started at noon but, we are old men/didn't want to sit in the sun all day, so we thought we would get there around 5, or 6. Around 4, nasty weather rolled in. Ended up not going. I'm too much of a pussy to go out in the rain and, don't like knowing the rest of the family is OK.

Crescent City, 25 miles east, and 10 south of me had power lines down, and a gas leak. Clifton 17 miles straight east of me got nailed too. No tornados, straight line winds. One of my friends shared her friends pics, of some damage on Facebook but, it didn't day where the pics are from.

Sunday: finished PK's amp.

Had a gig Thursday, playing a municipal outdoor summer concert series type thing. Sold a bunch of merch (including our hot-off-the-presses t-shirts), packed the park, and got a multi-track soundboard recording that we can hopefully turn into a new demo.

No work Friday (school schedule), so I kept the boy home from daycare. It rained all fucking day, so my big plans were a bust, but I kept up with an under-one-year-old nap-for-nap most of the day, so it was a pretty laid back Friday. Made avocado-bacon burgers and fries for dinner.

Saturday, we went to Chicago for a double-lesbian wedding. I was on baby duty, so I didn't attend the ceremony, but the reception was pretty great, with amazing food and interesting options at the bar. Tried to get some sleep (I hit the rumble strip a couple of times on the drive to Chicago before making my wife take the wheel), but every time I fell asleep, I started snoring, which woke up the baby, who woke me up. It was rough. Wife brought me dinner from the wedding (pretty amazing surf-and-turf), then kept kicking me throughout the night to keep me from waking up the baby with my snoring. A less than perfect night, but still pretty good.

Sunday, we went to the zoo and Boy got to see some monkeys and goats and such. Had a great breakfast, with a side of the best pancakes I've ever had, and a decent turkey club for lunch downtown. Traffic was pretty bad w/ road construction on the drive back, but we made it OK.

No work again today (summer school starts tomorrow), so I'm hoping to catch up on sleep, take Boy to the library, get in some fiddle practice, and go through the live recording.

Not much happening this weekend.
Friday - worked until 5, then went with Carol for her monthly poetry group.

Saturday - worked until 1:30, then Carol and I hit some tag sales and then went to the grocery store.

Sunday - went to church in the morning. During the summer they have informal services led by church members. These tend to be interesting since the Unitarian church has people with a variety of interests and beliefs. The guy yesterday told about his experience with cancer and his religious journey, leavened with a wicked sense of humor. After that I did some reading, watched some DIY network, wrote a new song, and started figuring out chords for another new one.

Friday - Picked our daughter up from the airport and visited with her for a while until she went to hang out with her friends, then my wife and I went to dinner.

Saturday - Met up with other family members who wanted to see our daughter. Hung out at a pool, then had wings and went to a friend's acoustic gig. Got to sit in for a few songs and did one with my daughter, and she did a different song with my friend Jerry. She's a way better vocalist than me, but she doesn't play any instruments so this was her first "open mic" type experience. Hopefully she dug it and will do more.

Sunday, the wife and daughters are out of town for the week. I wrote a new song called "Lights of Lucea" and watched some movies.

One more, just cuz. My girl had a hard time on that last mile up. One way it is 3.8 miles, gaining 2,520 feet or so over that relatively short distance. Lots of false summits, many, many switchbacks. But she liked it once she got there!

I was proud of her for forcing her feet, one at a time, up the hill through the tears. The tears went away once she found the cabin. :)

Friday - Work.

Saturday - Rare off-week night shift. Had a night-time retrofit install at C__e Bank near Wrigleyville (nothing like C__e Bank scheduling a virtual one-night lobby remodel and ATM installation during Pride Fest, which was LITERALLY right behind the plaza the bank was in, and the Cubs game a few blocks away. Idiots :annoyed:), so I had to miss the Jeremy Memorial show. Prior to that, however, I got into the area about 2 hours before I was scheduled to be there, so I spent some time at CME - JEEBUS, did they have some cool stuff there .

Sunday - met up with a local CL-er who bought my bike (new one coming soon - I hope...), then worked night shift. Regional boss put out an email about an opening in Austin, Tx; me and the Mrs. said "Hmmmm...".

Today - was going to work out, but said eff it. Was going to mow the lawn, but it is raining. Again :annoyed:. Gonna prep for a second discussion tomorrow on a possible major shift in my career :embarrassed:.

That's killer. My daughter likes to sing too, and is playing piano and will goof around on guitar with me once in a while. I hope to be able to do something like that with her some day.

You're mean.

Those pics earlier in the thread are just another reason why I would love to check that area out

Friday - cut out of work early and headed to my parents house for the weekend. they were in NYC, so we went down to watch their dogs and play on the lake.

Saturday - rode the jet skis and lounged in the lake, had some friends come down with their 3 kids.

Sunday - more play on the lake and took some of my mom's clients to look at houses. They are writing a contract so if it goes through, I get some commission. One of the houses had this cool old Carvin bass.
