We done a show

The band Wall of Roses (with me on bass) has been working towards this album release show for a while, and last night was the big day

We played the upstairs room at Simplon, the smaller room at the smaller indie-friendly venue in Groningen. (Capacity 150; we sold over 120 tickets, so it was pretty full.)

We hired a photographer and the venue has one on staff, so we have a metric h*ck load of shots

The sound and lighting guys were lovely. Super friendly, super professional and cooperative.

For Hans (drums and lead vocals) and Siebrand (guitar and vox), it was the realisation of a dream; for Gertjan (lead guitar) it was an emotional occasion too; you know how lead guitarists are.

As the bass player I stand at the back trying not to fuck everything up, mostly, but it is the nature of a rock band to get onstage and rock and I enjoyed it a great deal too.

Those are killer pictures.

They are! As with so many things, giving appropriate amounts of money to people with relevant skills turns out to be the One Weird Trick you need.

Here you can infer that:

* the moshpit was replaced by a creche (most of the band was recruited from parents of children at a local primary school)
* my left hand technique remains its composure under pressure
* the zawinul beanie stays on
