Unbelieveable

I love the double standard Mark. This isnt OK, but a photo of Sarah Palin with pancakes on her head is?? I mean really, it's horrible.

I think since the pancakes are obviously white batter it is truly offensive. I guess you could make it ok by having them be buckwheat pancakes or maybe a bran muffin to get some more culture into your picture

Oops - I meant to post this in your Palin tribute thread, and not here, but I've gotten lost in all of the offensiveness of these threads and can't remember where I'm going today

I'm pretty sure buckwheat is a racist term. Thanks a lot, Little Rascals!

Smashed watermelon found outside mayor's office

Online poll: Police are patrolling Mayor Dean Grose's home and office to prevent further incidents.

LOS ALAMITOS – Police are patrolling the mayor's office and home after a smashed watermelon was found in front of his office, officials said today.
Police at about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday went to Mayor Dean Grose's office, Los Alamitos-based Event Medical, after he reported that a smashed watermelon was found outside the office, said Cpt. Bruce McAlpine.

Grose has been scrutinized for sending an e-mail to a local businesswoman depicting the White House with a watermelon garden imposed as the White House's garden. Keyanus Price, an African American, said she was appalled by the e-mail and asked for a public apology.
Police took a report about the watermelon incident and are keeping watch to make sure such incidents do not continue to occur, McAlpine said.
"He just wanted to report it because of the controversy that is surrounding him right now," McAlpine said. "We are not concerned, at this point, that there are any physical threats against him."
Grose has called and e-mailed Price to apologize. He also sent an e-mail to the City Council and Price's boss.
"It was poor judgment on my part and I am deeply sorry," he said.
The community reaction has been a mix of residents who are highly offended and those who say the matter has been taken too far.
"A public spectacle seems a little overboard if you ask me and it appears has been blown way out of proportion," Katey McDonnell, 31, wrote in an e-mail. "I cannot imagine that a man who represents a city would intentionally send off a 'joke' to someone he may possibly offend."
Others said the e-mail was racist.
"It appalls me how much racial insensitivity continues in this day and age," Aliso Viejo resident Brian Alpers, 48, wrote in an e-mail. "Even forwarding e-mails like that continue to perpetuate stereotypes and yes, even racial hatred."
McAlpine also said the Police Department is going to increase its presence at Monday's City Council meeting.
"We are definitely anticipating that several members of the community will express their opinion," he said. "We do expect a larger than normal attendance for the meeting."

The real hatred seems to be from those he "offended".

Just my .02. idn_smilie

Everyone needs to be a bit less thin skinned. Jeez.

Of course i'm a white male, so my opinion doesnt count for a lot. :embarrassed:

The average white man has become an apologist bitch. Where are the real God damned men? I just wish the same as you; for people to buck up and shut up.

So what your saying is that people have a right to poke fun at the expense of other people but that those people who are being made fun of don't have a right to complain about it?idn_smilie

Complaining, and dubious acts like with the watermelon, and demanding a public apology aren't just complaining. idn_smilie
