I’ve been on the list about a year and a half or two years at this point. Just got this today:

Boy is it too bad you sold your PoT. You could answer so many questions right now.

What options are you going with?

Not sure. Doing some research. It also depends on if I want it in my big board or the little one. For the big board I’d go for the 4 jack option. Also wondering if I want to bother with the high gain mod or not.

I dunno...I've never understood the hype regarding these things...

The KoT is a highly tweaked Marshall Bluesbreaker, times two. For a handmade pedal, it's pretty reasonably priced. However, because there's a well managed 18 month wait list, used prices are astronomical. That's where the hype/unobtanium bs comes from.

I'm 100% sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the KoT and the clones @RyanNo3 builds once he's finished. But I'm not exactly a low gain kinda guy, so I'm not the target market either.

My PCB showed up today. All the other parts arrive tomorrow. I'll start Sunday. Probably will finish it up next weekend. BUT... When it's done and @Mark Wein has his, I'll send mine and my "PoT" clones out to A/B.

Keep in mind @Help!I'maRock! ... I don't know if I'll even like this when it's done.

Also, my 5F1 is cracklin like a mug. Looks like Imma hafta find time to figure that out too...

To me, the High gain sounded a little bit better at low gain settings, but then when he cranked the gain, it just sounded slightly smoother and more compressed. If I were buying one if these, I wouldn’t be buying it to use as a very subtle, low gain effect. So the places where the high gain version would possibly sound better would be irrelevant to me.

Mostly, very subtle differences between these two just remind me how confusing I thought it was trying to read through his webpage and decide which fuzz face clone would be right for me. It felt like death by a billion options.

I go back and forth on this. If I want to use it as a stand alone drive or on my smaller board then the high gain naught be the better choice. The regular would be good for my love rig where I play at higher volumes with the Suhr Badger and the amp already has a little grit to combine with the pedal. To much compressed dirt gets a little lost when our drummer starts whacking cymbals every bar or two.

I go with the low gain. You like the sound better in clips and it seems to have a wider application for you. Plus, you have plenty of other higher gain options.

Just watched a few videos and i think the low gain version it is. I just want to investigate the 4 jack version before I order. If you can still use it as a 2 jack pedal when you want then I may get that.

Actually I don’t really have much in the way of higher gain pedals. I’ve gotten rid of a bunch this year.

Buy whichever version has the best profit margin on resell.

The difference is that Mark's will be worth up to $400 more than he paid for it as soon as it arrives. If he doesn't like it...payday!
