Tuner Pedals... I can't be the only one....

On some of the facebook pedal threads and conversations I've seen on other forums, I'm just staggered by the number of people who think the "best" tuners are these inexpensive chromatic tuners because they're "so fast".

What I feel like they're saying is, "when I tune the string, the light goes green REALLY EASILY".

Judging by the number of youtube recordings where I feel that many people have a loose grasp of what "in tune" is, am I the only one who thinks......

... oh for FUCK'S SAKE!!!... Can't you HEAR how out of tune that is? Yes the green light says the string is in tune but COME ON!!!! Try out a STROBE TUNER you CHEAP FUCK, or at least a MORE ACCURATE TUNER THAT SHOWS CENTS.... not sense... which you have very little of.... i need a fucking drink.

When I went to see Yngwie the other night, the guitar player in the opening band didn't have a tuner. During sound check he kept trying to tune by ear and it was incredibly annoying. Then before their set started, he plugged into the bass player's tuner, while they were on stage with the lights on them and the background music off.

Seriously.... W.T.F. ???

That band just failed.....

The sad thing was the band who went on second was worse. I think Yngwie picks shitty bands on purpose to make his set look better

The Ramones used to pick good bands and then screw with their sound and lighting to keep them down. At least Yngwie is generous to give bands who wouldn't otherwise deserve it a little taste.

If I was in a band I would love to open for Yngwie. The openers setup and played in front of his wall of Marshalls. How cool would it be to have a pic of your band playing in front of a giant wall of Marshalls?

I got a chance to see Mike Deasy (Wrecking Crew member...played on 100s of albums) and was able to sit and talk with him after the show. I asked for a tip or two on playing. First thing he said ....learn to tune your guitar by ear. And yeah....I ignored him. But he can do it. The rest of us MUST use a tuner....

It really doesn't matter if you have a perfect ear, in a live performance, nobody wants to hear you tuning up.
