Tuner pedals, because of the other thread.

I have one of these Digitech polyphonic tuners (iirc I got it for $30 or $40 on an MF "SDPTD"), and have been happy with it so far. Of course, I just as frequently use a Snark tuner...

For many years I would tune the G string to my G harmonica and tune by ear from there. A night of trying to tune a guitar, mandolin, and banjo by ear in a noisy club sent me to get a clip-on tuner, but I still fine-tune by ear.

Check out the demonstration around the 2:30 mark where they cut to a signal going from -2 cents flat to +2 cents sharp and the chromatic tuner never leaves the green light. If adjacent strings are 2 cents flat and the other is 2 cents sharp? Yikes....

I will check that out later. I can definitely hear when a string is out on a chord, particularly on the G, B, and high E string. For me, it usually seems to be the G or B strings out. I will probably end up getting a turbo tuner at some point pretty soon. That way, I can learn to intonate my own guitars too.

And at the time it was released, the Korg was much more accurate than the BOSS TU-2. :embarrassed:

HA. I have that Korg.

Yah, I saw you recommend Peterson, but did not see what model. I see a lot of the blue ones used for reasonable prices, but not so much this one. I like the large circular display on this one. Which do you have?

I have a few of their products. Both the stomp box and the clip-on are excellent. The latter is especially great to have if you play acoustic string instruments of any kind. Downside is, of course, that you’d need to bring batteries to gigs.

I’d also strongly recommend the Peterson app, if you have an Apple or Android device.

Lots of cool overkill options if you’re someone like me who likes to play with tunings, spectral harmony, etc.

That's what I use. Works well although I think the switch is getting flaky on me.

I'm seeing some mixed reviews on the Polytune. Thinking about the Polytune 3 which has the TC Bona-fide buffer built into it. I'd like to put a buffer at the beginning of my chain (realized I've got like 35 feet of cabling before my buffered multi effect is hit)

I really like the polyphonic aspect of it, just strum, make a few adjustments, done. Much quicker than checking each string individually.

I still have my Boss TU2 until that one breaks. But also have the Polytunes, mini and regular size and love them. Allows me to do a quick check in-between songs and if a string is off, then I will tune individually.

Bought the TT from @Chad about half a year ago and it is great. I use that one when I work on my instruments.
