The Mississippi cities of Gulfport, Long Beach and Biloxi ordered mandatory evacuations of their harbors and marinas, and the U.S. Coast Guard temporarily closed the ports of New Orleans; Mobile, Alabama; and Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Would you believe I’m sitting out here on the front porch? The weather has been beautiful all day. This won’t last much longer though, as my my Dad, about 40 miles to my east is getting some nasty stuff. It’ll be here in about 45 minutes. Weird little storm, this one. Thanks for the concern. :) SSC opens late tomorrow, so I’ll be up watching the trees bend.

It’s not going to be too bad, living in Houston, you know the drill. I’m always thankful to hear when a storm doesn’t get too bad naturally. What concerns me is when too many tropical storms come through after the TV hype, and folks who’ve never been through a bad one stop taking precautions. It only takes one.

We had a storm late last season in November. Really strange to have one so late. It dissolved right out front, only a few miles past the islands. This one never made hurricane strength, at least not yet, and it’s coming ashore.
