We hold this truth to be self-evident, that powerpop is a bit of a sausagefest. But what about female-fronted powerpop? Isn't it wonderful? Give us your top 3, if you are so inclined.

I will go with these; in gold, silver, bronze order:

Also: let's not neglect the wonderful opportunity that any powerpop thread ever has for arguing 'that's not powerpop'! :catfight:

Probably not power pop or top three material, but I stumbled on these gals a few weeks ago and it’s pretty catchy.

This song grew on me from the Go-Go's catalog. Doesn't hurt that this video is Belinda at that perfect place between Diva beautiful and Baby face.

The Shivvers are a proper power pop band. Stylistically ticking the boxes. From the American Midwest. Largely forgotten except by pedantic weirdos in jean jackets.

And “Teen Line” is ace.

Not a comment on your contribution, but ‘jean jacket’ is a personal pet peeve. It’s a ‘denim jacket’. Jeans are garments, denim is the material.

That's great stuff!

I've never understood the meaning of 'power pop' exactly.

How it differs from some other genres. I have some idea of what isn't it. But have no idea if certain songs or artists are it or not.

Could be it was more meaningful in the past than now.

Not saying you're wrong but, good luck in you quest to change the millions upon millions who call it a jean jacket.

There is a subtle difference.

Jean jacket is a type of denim jacket that is supposed to look like jeans. The same stitching, rivets, buttons, etc. But not all denim jackets conform to that aesthetic. You can do a lot of things with denim beyond the Canadian Tuxedo look.

I think it's more common to see non-jean jackets on women. But it's totally uncommon in men's clothing stores if you look.
