A few months ago, I bought this ESP LTD M-302 from a pawn shop for $180. I bought it just to have a cheap Floyd equipped guitar around in case I needed one. I swapped out the EMG 81 set that was installed for Duncan JB/Jazz set that I had in my pickup drawer. I wired it with coil splits for both pickups. I wanted to add a D Tuna, so I had to replace the licensed Floyd. I had a licensed Floyd that I had in my parts stash that I picked up on Amazon for $20 years ago. I figured it felt okay, but didn't get it set up until this week. I actually like this guitar for most purposes. The pickups are damn good. They split nicely. And I like the way this neck feels. I'm impressed.

I have successfully structured my life to avoid scenarios in which I would need a Floyd equipped guitar, but that's a nice looking unit.

I recall Pete Townshend ended up with a shred guitar in 2024. He tried one out of curiosity and it was much easier to play than a typical Strat. He loved the double locking whammy bar as well.

Happy Shredder Guitar Day!

I've noticed a little bit of a mini-trend happening in alternative and pop bands, with shredder guitars making something of a resurgence. IDLES, Wet Leg, Turnstile, and Olivia Rodrigo's band all have members playing pointy Superstrat types. And Phoebe Bridger has been playing a BC Rich Warlock!
