Well this sucks.
I have a 10K race this next Saturday. I was really training hard for this one hoping for a PR. Then - the cold snap hit and life got a bit crazy. Then both treadmills at work are on the fritz.
NOW - I'm hurt. I have had a recurring soreness on the back of my right calf - about 1/2 of the way down. It is below the main part of the muscle. It comes and goes and has not bothered me for quite some time. I ran Saturday morning and it was fine. Sunday afternoon I am doing errands and suddenly it starts hurting. Actual pain. Before it was just sore - this hurts. And it was not running, or climbing stairs, or slipping. I was just walking across a parking lot when it started. No 'snap' or 'pop' - just pain to the point I had a slight limp. No clue what this is. I'm using the RICE thing right now (rest, ice, compression, elevation) hoping it gets better in the next few days. I have calf compression sleeves so I am wearing one of those all day. Taking Aleve as well. If it isn't better in a few days I'll probably go to the Doc - but I already know that drill. They will have to do an MRI - physical therapy, etc. It's not that bad so hopefully I can baby it back to health. The last thing we need is more doctor bills at this time of year.
