Hot or Not? This might make you mad… but what you have to understand… Is I saw it and I could not cease or desist from picking it up after some thinking and such

A couple weeks later and I am still really digging this thing, especially now that I got it dialed in. it sounds really good and I have adapted to the radius to the point where it feels really comfortable now. I don't think I'm going to get rid of my fender because it's really a totally different feel, which is weird because they're both such similar designs. But I am so happy I got this one… John Mayer, go figure

Congrats! I’m curious, when you play rhythm guitar on your SS or Strat, where is your pick contacting the strings most of the time? Are you strumming with your pick near the bridge pup, between the middle and bridge pup, on top of the middle, between the neck and middle, on top of the neck pup?

I... don't know! I guess between neck and middle but closer to the neck. I don't really think about it. Sometimes I'll knock the switch or volume knob but I really gotta be strumming hard for that so it rarely happens... next time I'm playing I'll try to see.

I had been playing without thinking about it. Because of recent discussions on various forums about the placement of the controls, I got curious about it.

My pick is mainly between the neck and middle pickup for strumming and lead. Sometimes, I’ll be right over the middle. Every once in awhile, I’ll play between the neck pup and the neck itself. I never hit the switch. I have to consciously make myself play below the middle pup. It’s something I’m going to force myself to do from to time for a different sound.

@Peen Simmons had mentioned hand muting being a problem. I hand mute a lot. Maybe, too much. My hand is muting between the middle and bridge pickup most of the time. I do it without thinking. I got used to this on my first Strat copy as a beginner, made by Hondo. A used Epiphone Strat had the same control layout. I guess I just naturally placed my hand where there was room and got used to it.

I’m glad I got into the Strat configuration early in my playing. To someone who learned on a Tele, 335, LP, etc and got used to pick hand down by the bridge, the Strat has to seem all kinds of messed up.
