The Worst Metallica Song.

St. Anger is like some type of weird performance art where Metallica were trying to make the worst possible album. I can’t stand the weird resonant ringing sound from a lot of the drums. It is like someone tried to find worst possible place to put a drum mic, or they didn’t secure it or something. Anyway, the odd ringing sound gives me a headache after like 10 seconds, so Anger gets my vote.

I liked their version of Whiskey In The Jar, too.

Not nearly as much as the Thin Lizzy version, but I still liked it. Plus, it helped people who normally would have never heard of Thin Lizzy to find out about them.

That snare drum has been a running joke on the internet for as long as that album has been around. It just sounds terrible.

It is akin to recording a great guitar track with the SM57 pointed directly at the amp head's transformer, as who doesn't wan to capture the gentle hum of the beast converting the AC to the DC, as that is where the tone really begins. Maybe finger mounted mini microphone to capture the real sound of fingers making would strings squeak is a better analogy. Whatever the case, the sound of that record makes it intolerable to me.
