Lets see for $90,000, I could buy a real car like these, or a rebodied Corvette with worse handling, awful styling, and interior that has the same quality of materials as a Moskovich.
But your right I'm sure pissing away $90k on a Cadillac is a better decision.

No matter what kind of car you buy, if you spend $90k on it, you're just pissing your money away. I mean, if it's your money, knock yourself out, but seriously, if you're spending that much on a car, it's got to be just because you've got more money than you know what to do with.

Well the difference is the The average used sale price for an 2009 XLR with less than 10,000 miles is $49,200 (original MSRP $92K), the average price for a 2009 911 Carrera with less than 10,000 miles is $69,775 (original MSRP $89K). So the Cadillac owner blew an average of $42,800, and the Porsche owner blew $19,225. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I didn't have my camera handy (plus I was driving), but I saw one of theses in pretty good shape on Saturday...

But regardless which one you buy, it's not being bought as an investment. You go into the deal knowing that you're losing money.
If somebody has $92k to blow and wants to blow it on a Caddy, who am I to stop them.
If had had that kind of cash burning a hole in my pocket, I wouldn't go for the Caddy, but whatever floats their boat.

Well buying anything like those cars new is not a good idea. Let someone else take the hit on that, but that being said many of them hold there value very well after the initial blow. Provided the proper maintenance has been done by a qualified mechanic. I actually made money on both of my 911's.

I'm not saying they shouldn't spend their money on a $90k car. I'm just saying that their motives for doing so have nothing at all to do with reliability or build quality or any of the other things that most of us factor into our new car purchases. They are buying the car because they want it. Plain and simple. If somebody wants a Cadillac, a Porsche isn't gonna cut it for them, no matter how much better a car the Porsche (or Audi, or whatever) may be.

If you want to know the truth, I will tell you want my problem with cars like that are. They are a ripoff. No if and or buts about it. They are poorly built, use inferior materials, and as a result have no resale value at all. Most people who are in to cars and can afford to spend $90k on a car know that is an utter piece of garbage. I feel bad for those who were suckered into buying one. Truth be told there is nothing there to justify that price.
