It was something they tried that has not worked out.

One of my students took his EBMM Petrucci model there for a setup (without asking me first, of course) and they fucked it up so bad it has to go back to Music Man :facepalm:
 
The best buy here doesn't have anything like that.

Back it Cali they had a surprising amount of stuff, even a whole separate glass room for acoustics. But yeah, it was pretty much always empty.
 
You can see the acoustic guitar room in the back corner of my pic. Their "music school" is out of frame to the left.
 
the one in Union Square has a music department, but it's got the same shit GC has, just less of it and more beat up.
 
Pretty much like this one, although with less traffic there is less wear and tear on the gear.

Our Best Buy's have 5 or 6 Casio keyboards and maybe 3 ultra cheap guitars.
 
Consider plug pulled: The pilot store (494 and Lyndale in Minneapolis) where they tested that concept is under heavily remodeling at the moment. They will not be doing music store concept again and all the inventory has been blown out at fire sale prices.
 
our local best buy has a room like that, and a loud room for trying out amps at higher volumes. once i got to plug in a Slash goldtop les paul into a bogner alchemist... i played for a good amount of time.... pretty good sounding.

but a lot of their stuff was like GC
 
Ours has strings, straps and some cables.
A couple of REALLY low end acoustics in cardboard boxes (nothing you would even consider buying).

And then we're on the refrigerator section.

I did buy some strings last time I was in there. They were cheap ($5/pack).

That's what the closest one to me has. Except I have one of those acoustics. :embarrassed: (My first guitar, a gift from my brother.) Still my only acoustic, it's not HORRIBLE though I might think otherwise once I get a nice one. :lol:
 
There is a Best Buy like that over in Ann Arbor, MI, or at least there used to be. A few nice guitars but a bunch of poorly set-up ones, if not down right crappy ones.
