The amp comes home today

Yes, at 4:30, the wife, kid and I set out for Niagara Falls to pick up the new amp. I dropped by my favorite music store in town to pick up one of these, figuring I'd need a pedal for some dirt:

and a few other things...new strings, speaker cable...the usual. We're gonna have dinner in the Falls while we're there so hopefully it won't be too late when we get home. Otherwise, the neighbors are gonna be a little pissed off because there's no way in HELL I'm waiting until tomorrow to plug this thing in! biggrin

The usual pics/vids/whatever of the meeting and amp will be forthcoming...honest.

I want to publicly thank the two of you for making this thing happen.

For those out of the loop, we're talking about a Blackheart BH5H and a 2x10 cabinet that was manufactured by a 3rd party for Line 6 but doesn't have any of the badging on it.

This rig sounds amazing! I tried it out with my Agile and the amp and cab together on 3 watts at about 1/2 volume give an amazing clean sound with all 3 pickup settings. With the volume cranked, it's just a whole 'nuther animal. And it is freakin' loud for 3 watts! On the 5 watt setting the clean is fantastic as well, but cranked you get the most amazing 70's rock tone. And again, it's incredibly loud. Mark, the speakers in the cabinet might be generic but they sound pretty damned good to my ears.

It also takes the pedal really well. I've got the gain knob down at about 25% as it does get a little harsh if you really push it. I didn't do much EQ tweaking (everything's basically flat at this point), so I'm sure I could add more gain to it and get it to sound good. But, at this point that's not what I'm looking for. And, the "turbo" function of the pedal is quite handy as a lead boost. I picked up a generic locking footswitch to go with it and it works quite well.

I'll see what I can do about getting some vids on Saturday. Time constraints just won't let it happen during the week.

So, Mark and Matt, thanks again for helping me out with this.

I'm so glad you dig it!

Maybe I need to get a Blackheart instead of selling the cab I have left...

Those Blackhearts are VERY tempting to me. Congrats.

Indeed. RedAnt has posted a ton of clip of him playing through a Blackheart and they all sounded really good. I have been really tempted to buy a smaller one so that I could have a tube practice amp, but that will have to wait...
