WTF: That's not a chainsaw bear!!

Um, so this just happened outside my wife's office at our home. Normally, you just see chainsaw bears made out of wood in peoples' yards!

black bears are pretty skittish quite frankly. I've had probably 5 or 6 run ins with them over the years and they always run off. One was in a tree like your pic and I was downhilling a trail on m,y Mt. Bike outside Taos, NM when it jumped down literally right in front of me like 7 feet away. I fell off my bike and grabbed it to put in front of me and yelled at him and he ran off  .....you basically gotta stand yer ground, they ain't brown bears. Just don't project ferar (same with dogs) cuz they will pounce on you the weakling if they smell you are a pussy :)

I'm thankful there are still wild animals left somewhere. That's pretty cool.
We have had moose in the yard before (plural, momma and young'ns), elk, deer, fox, skunks (not that great), haven't seen a mountain lion yet, but that is possible too. I don't really need any of those mountain lions coming around my house, though.

So, sad news. Apparently they killed the poor little guy, as there was no Mom to be found, and they felt he would not survive on his own, and there was nowhere to place him. Very sad.

Boooo! I mean, maybe take him back to the general area he was found and turn him loose rather than kill him?

I hope you weren't the one who narced him out!
Nope. I wasn't home. My wife, who has a home based chiropractic office, had a patient tell her deputies were out in the yard, so she went out and found out why they were there. I wish they could have done something other than kill the poor little dude too. Not sure about the alternatives. Captivity seems like it would have been the only option. No mom, he wasn't bedded down for winter hibernation, and winter is coming on. We are supposed to get a few inches of snow this weekend. Unfortunately, there was a bear hunting season recently, and maybe the mom got taken down. :(
