Suggest a good lead boost pedal....

I need to step up and start doing a lead or two a night with my band. Since I am the rhythm player my guitar is a bit further down in the mix so any solos do need some kind of boost. Since there may be some cleaner tunes that I might solo on, preferable the boost can stay in the clean to slightly dirty range. And not add much noise.

EQ pedal?
Second TS type pedal?
Compressor?

I absolutely love my Xotic RC Booster. Completely transparent if you want it to be, you can get a little gain if you need it or add some bass or treble depending on what you may need. A little pricey, though ($170)

I'm going to try and finish up my simple booster pedal project, which will be about $40 or so when its done...just makes thing louder.

A bad monkey works pretty well for this chore and is dirt cheap. I used one for all the lead boosts at pragestock last year, so you've heard it first hand. Right now I'm using a rat though, but I think I'm gonna pull it and use the bm for a while. Yeas, I am fickle

I've had great luck using an EQ pedal for a lead boost. Put it either in the FX loop (if you have one) or after any dirt pedals and it does nothing to you gain at all. Just makes things a little louder. I actually use mine to boost mids for leads. It does a great job.

No FX loop on my amp....

What EQ pedal do you use? Isn't it a Boss?

My Bassman doesn't have a loop either, but as long as you put the EQ after any gain pedals, the results are the same.

I've got an MXR 6 band EQ. I like it a lot. No added noise (or at lease, very little), plenty of adjustment range. Built like a tank. Plus, the sliders light up when it's engaged, so it's really easy to see your settings on a dark stage.
