They moved in over the weekend. They are seriously redoing the house which is awesome but now I have a jealous. :embarrassed:

The funniest was when I met the new owner and he had all kinds of questions about the house like "where did the wall between the master bedroom and the bathroom go?" and "why are there car stereo speakers embedded in the soffets?" and "Why is there no back wall on the garage?".

I'm so happy to have new neighbors. :)

couldn't get a picture of it but they had stuck a set of old tv rabbit ears on a piece of PVC pipe, stuck it in a vent stack on the roof and ran a wire out the window to the TV in the living room.

the good old days :embarrassed:

And we haven't had a visit from the Orange PD or the paramedics in months on our street.

No back wall on the garage?

some of the houses around here had a garage door on both the front and back so that you could pull a car or park a boat in the back yard. I don't think these houses were built that way but he had a giant tent behind the garage with shelves in it that he kept the supplies and tools for his tile business.

New neighbor, "Wow, what a friendly neighborhood. I've never seen so man people this happy to see us move in before."

srsly.

This isn't a fancy neighborhood. We live really close to Villa Park which is but these are 1950's era 3 bedroom houses under the median home price on our street. Pretty blue collar and folks are for the most part pretty cool...the guys across the street made the first two and a half years of our life in this house pretty difficult with the constant fighting (verbal and fistfights in the front yard), loud music and parties. We had trouble getting our kids to sleep because you could hear whatever was going on over there in our house with the doors and windows shut up. Plus the one picture with all of the cars, trucks and RV's in it? That all belonged to that one house, all but one to the owner. We also thought ar one point that they might have been selling speed out of the house but never had any proof.

I'd imagine there was a collective sigh of relief when they finally vacated

yeah...they tried at the end to make amends with the neighbors but by that point everyone just wanted them to leave. The saddest part was that the parents of the two brothers who were always fighting lived on house over and ignored the whole situation for the most part.

When you've terrorized an entire neighborhood, you can undo that damage

the thing is though that most of the people on this street have lived here for decades, which is incredibly rare in SoCal. We have a couple of original home buyers from 1956 still in the neighborhood and many of the younger owners (in their 40's and 50's) bought their houses from their parents or other family in the 80's or 90's so everyone knows everyone and it gets a little weird at times. The lady to the left of us has been in her house since 1969.

The guys across the street grew up on this street and knew everyone so nobody really wanted to make too much trouble for them.

it's been a long time coming....good news is good news....

I think your property values just went up...or at least the value you put on your property.

The turn around from WTA's move out and a new owner coming in was remarkably quick given the state of the Real Estate market around here. That's good news for your neighborhood.

Congrats on the new neighbors.

thanks. It took over two years to throw the guy out of the house and several months to get someone new into it. When we bought our house 3 years ago last week I made an offer on it as a short sale and they refused it. Four months later and 12-13 more offers on houses I saw this house went back on the market as a repo. I made an offer and as soon as I offered to let the bank finance the loan instead of my own bank they closed within 3 weeks. it was amazing. I think that was a brief window where that could have happened though. now they won't lend you money unless you already have money.

now that it's over, i really want to name a band White Trash Apocalypse.

I get right of first refusal. "Wein and the White Trash Apocalypse Four" has a nice ring to it :embarrassed:
