Not for this particular guitar but, I am suffering from gold foil fever.

It's so bad, I'm doing it to a guitar that I got rid of all the gold hardware it came with.
 
The two I put hands on weighed 900 lbs. each. I believe the pickups are just mini-hums that look fancy. I didn’t have a chance to plug one in to see how they sounded. Specs- and price-wise, the newish Harmony guitars seem just an eensy bit nicer but in the same general wheelhouse.

Not bad guitars. Just big boned.
 
Nice looking guitar. If it sounded good I'd rock it. That said gold foils are not for me...

They’re doing a good job chasing the boutique market with stuff like this. Now they need to do an offset with gold foils and a mastery bridge.
 
I dunno, the sawn-off bridge looks odd to me. Maybe I'd dig it if it was more like a Custom with a, dare I say that out loud, TOM bridge?
 
Maybe, but not really something I'd want. Personally, if I'm looking for the vintage garage band gold foil sound, I want a guitar body style that matches the style... an offset or some other crazy oddball thing. And if I ever decided to get a Tele, I wouldn't want this config.

Those are the real gold foils! I had the Thorn designed Tele Magico Parallel Universe deal for a hot minute. It sounded great for strummy stuff but the string to string balance was wonky playing individual notes. And there were a couple other little fiddly things I didn’t dig about it playability-wise so I traded it for a souped up Mod Shop Jazzmaster that is great and does a fine job getting weirdo retro jangly sounds.

That’s basically my telecaster. Found the one I liked best (turned out to be a MIM Road Worn) and replaced the bridge, pickups, and tuners. I don’t care about resell value, and it’s a better guitar than 95% of MIAs I’ve played.
