Shark Convertible Bridge does everything.

I’m not sure if this is a new product or if this company finally got around to posting a video about something old. Some boffins designed a bridge that combines everything people like and fixes the shit people bitch about on guitar forums. It looks pretty awesome. But it costs $780 and a matching nut is $174. Plus you have to pay someone to route a body and install it. But not having to deal with the drawbacks of a floyd might be worth it.

It does look like a well thought out design. But, I can’t imagine a lot of people will be buying them at that price.

Install should not cost more than $300. However, with high end products, people tend to jack up the price.

$780 + $174 + $300 = $1,254. I could see putting one on a nice, solid $746 to $1246 guitar. That way, the overall price would be between $2000 to $2500. Looking at it that way, maybe it’s not so crazy, if you want a better wiggle stick.

I’m happy with my FOMOfx Virtual Jeff Pro whammy. The whammy controller is battery operated and wireless. The box that does the pitch shifting can be set to a range of pitch change, so it’s customizable. It can most closely emulate a TransTrem because it changes the pitch equally across all strings. Yet, it can also be set to the range of a Bigsby or Floyd if desired. Since the pitch shifting is digital, it never puts a guitar out of tune.

No need to cut into the guitar, the whammy controller mounting bracket gets attached with sticky tape. You can buy multiple brackets to move it between multiple guitars.

The box can be used as a pitch shifter to change the pitch of a guitar in half steps without using the whammy controller. It can make a standard guitar sound like a baritone, for example.

The biggest downside is the size of the box which does all the pitch shifting is a bit large. But, the cost is a fraction of that Shark bridge and can add whammy to multiple guitars without cutting into any of them. The only extra cost for each additional guitar would be extra brackets for the whammy controller.
