My shins are scarred up from years of abuse during actual sports, so no thanks.

Well done.

I can look at the video an tell what you're doing but you might want to include some info about what you're doing for those not in the know.

So if you are going to have a PR thread you should list you numbers and update them as you break them.

The only other crossfitters here that I know of are myself and @Kerouac. As a coach I'm not sure I should post my numbers.

I will define "PR" broadly to include any positive move or exercise event in the right direction. For me this weekend, it was a strong hike on Saturday evening going hard with no pain and feeling good, and same thing on Sunday during a mountain bike ride.

For me right now, it is about transitioning from one season to the next successfully. Listening to my body is more important to me right now than reaching a certain number whether it be weight, time or whatever. Progress, particularly over the long term, not perfection.

Understandable but a PR is a personal record. While the best we can do on a given day is a moving target and what we should ultimately aim for, PR's help us quantify or progress.

So really two different things. I lifted at a meet this weekend. I lifted well and won my division, but I did not PR. They are a measure of performance but not the ultimate measure.

LOL!!! @reverend1 , I lettered in track and field back in the day. (the day when I ran a 440, and a mile relay, so that tells you it was a long time ago ). metric came in the next year or two as I recall). I know what a PR is. Just defining it differently for right now as I build base for different activity from the winter time. Will add some PR measurement of some kind as I go in the next week or two. I will have to think of how to define them as most of my workouts are outside and not in closed or measured environments. I could one day a week see how fast my ride to work goes, as that is always the same course, for instance. But headwinds, and how much weight I am carrying to work, might skew the result. I do plan on joining the gym again finally, so I can set some goals there for that aspect of my training. Basically lower back safe lifting, core, and cardio there. I am trying to set up my workout for at least a day or two a week as something like a circuit, where I alternate cardio effort on a bike or step machine, and weights, to make the whole thing a cardio event in addition to strength.

but realistically, I will not be able to get myself in a gym for more than two or maybe at the most three days a week. I would so much rather be out on the bike, either mountain or road.

I'm not a fan of "redefining" words. I know what you were getting at and I totally understand, but a PR is a PR and good for today is good for today. I really dislike the new words mean what we decide not what they mean trend. I was not trying to imply you didn't know what a PR was.

I'm assuming this is a "PR" since it's the longest distance I've bikes to date.

This thread inspired me to push a litt harder today so I could post in it :)

@reverend1 , Ok, understood. :)
And you are technically correct of course. A "PR" is a competition with one's self in the sense that it is a measurement of one's best effort in whatever it is. While I am clocking base miles and such, I won't be measuring much. Though I will probably just keep track of how fast I am riding to work at least one day a week once I get started. I will time the first one, in fact, as a base line. And I will try to get something figured out at the gym. I have lifted weights since the 80's, off and on, and my more recent gym memberships have been less successful in terms of satisfaction, and results. And my goals are different. Maxing out what I can bench is no longer important to me.

I would consider crossfit of some kind, but my lower back requires that I not do certain things, so an instructor would have to be good about modifying the general class progression to suit my needs. As I said, I would like to design something like it at the Y where I can go and in 45 minutes get a very good workout that hits strength, core and cardio. But whatever I am going to do, it will be something different than what I have done in the past.

I would also like to get back into running a little bit, but carefully, to avoid injury. I like form running and drills, track work, funnels and intervals. But I tend to go at it too hard and end up feeling injured. But now is the season for getting back into such things.

I don't do crossfit.....just fit. Running type. I do need to do more core and upper body training though.

I'm coming off a lull in my training due to surgery and just being lazy for a month or so. Getting back into shape sucks....Once I'm there it's great.

I am gunning to break my PR for a 10K run this year. Current PR is 49:51.

I am also planning my first marathon but that got delayed to the fall.

Current PRs:

255 deadlift at 3 reps
160 (power) clean at 1 rep
205 front squat at 1 rep
235 back squat at 3 reps

I think my single rep max back squat is 265-270ish, but it's been awhile since we worked up to that and I can't recall. I was also really pleased today that I was able to do a set of 3 hang cleans at 155 today, since that's so close to my current single rep max.

I like this - I would agree whole heartedly with @reverend1 ... The personal record is for your own tracking. It's an accomplishment. So, @Mark Wein, yours absolute fits into this.

The PR isn't supposed to measure against anyone else. We're all different and are good at different things. I saw @Kerouac clean and thought it'd be good to put a thread together for these types of accomplishments.

Get some.

Ok I'll play.

Back squat- 315

Front squat- 300

Overhead squat- 245

Snatch- 225

Clean & Jerk-265

Deadlift- 465

5k row- 19:54

400m run- 1:10

Unbroken Pull-ups- 29
