My best buddy since college scored a swell Lund "Mr Pike" on teh craigslist so we're taking it out tomorrow a 3 hour tour.

We're both boaters from way back.

We've given her a full pre flight inspection, I'm wearing wool, and bringing a Leatherman. Gonna stick close to the dock till we check everything out and then go get irradiated by Three Mile Island.
Should be fine as long as I don't fall overboard. In Pennsylvania. In April.

Any words of wisdom from the salty seamen of weinworld?

In a rush to get a new to us boat out on the water one time, we forgot to put the bilge plug in. We're cruising across Blue Marsh lake and the stern starts riding lower than expected. Look down at the gauges to see what's up and immediately saw the bilge plug in one of the cup holders in the console.

Yeah, double check your bilge plug before dropping it in.

fishing a only slightly above watching paint dry or ice melt on the excitement level and I would argue the former are more enjoyable.

Except you can eat fish - something you can’t do watching paint dry unless you’re DdBob - whom I suspect grew up on a steady diet of lead-based paint chips…

nice ! Have you ever been fishing? my god , the most boring thing EVER. I would rather forage for my food and then after a hard day of foraging sit around in the afternoon sun and watch ice melt.
 
Wear your personal Floatation device, make sure someone on land knows where you’re going and when to expect you back. Check the weather forecast.

don’t be a macho dumbass, there’s a lot of them on the sea floor

there were several folks who did that back in the 60's.....ended up on an island for decades :idea:
 
Nice!
You get some glow in the dark fish besides the regular lead and mercury filled ones!
But if you catch and release em in a hurry perhaps it wont be that bad.
