more proof that they are all made in China now...
How did you like the wider neck? That's the biggest complaint that I've heard of the newer models.

Butting in...thought I would hate it, myself, but after a few minutes I almost did not notice. Feels really comfortable now![]()
It was also a sure-fire way to tell a real Gibson from a fake...
And set to go up again next year from what I've been told.
So you have a 2015? Which model SG, Les Paul?
Forward thinking is good. That way they have other products to keep them afloat when they price themselves out of everything except for the collectors market.

As for apeshitters and learning to play, let's not be too harsh on those who cannot play their guitars. OK?![]()

Mine was $1595 in 2004![]()
Getting rid of the nibs was the only way they could keep the retail of a new Lester under four grand. The margins on these are tight enough as it is.
I don't understand. Binding nibs over the fret ends is a lot easier to do than trimming back the tangs, laying the fret over the binding then finishing fret ends without screwing up the binding.
With nibs, it's easy. Fret the narrow board with flat fret ends. Install too-tall binding, then trim with a hot knife. A much simpler process. Refretting a nibbed neck is a bitch but building one is easy.
We really need a universally recognized sarcasm font.
