Not a basketball fan anymore but like everybody in Tucson late 80's / 90's was a fan and that's cuz Lute Olson took a team who the previous year before him only won 4 games to one of the most dominant teams of the late 80's and 90's.
Number 14 overall of most winning coahes overall career 780 wins and 280 losses
Teams coached: Long Beach State 49ers, Iowa Hawkeyes, Arizona Wildcats
Long Beach State record: 24-2 (.923)
Iowa record: 167-91 (.647)
Arizona record: 589-187 (.759) **
Overall record^: 780-280 (.736) **
But aat Arizona he had 589 of those and 187 losses....I think that is second to John Wooden but not sure. Mike K probably has the record?
anyway back in the 80's he was like the Beatles in Tucson, complete insanity R.I.P.
