Dolly was Bob Dylan’s counterpart as the greatest songwriters of their era. She lived a life of the fortune and glory of a rock star without the usual bad habits and related disasters.
A sad day. I was never a super fan just because it was country music with your country music sounding guitars (not for me) but Dolly had that rare talent of drawing everyone in and no one could escape her biggest songs. She was at her best (for me) when she just sat down on her own with a guitar.........What a talent and what a woman.
As a kid growing up in the UK she seemed to be on British TV quite a lot so she must have travelled tons during the 70s. Seeing her in documentaries over the years it was just very obvious that she was a lovely person, what with all the charity stuff etc.
Will be missed
