Ok this serves for those of you DIY'ers who are looking for a home build kit. I posted a progress on another thread of how the build was coming along.
Im typically not one to go into rants or public bashing of anyone or a company so Ill try to keep it within reason.
I've built a couple various Fender style amps and one EL84 based amp and have at least got sound to pour out of them lol..... seriously Im no electricion but have had success and have been complimented on how they have sounded when complete.

I ordered a Tweed Deluxe kit from Triode and the sales lady was very friendly and courtious.... I was told it would be in the mail the next day.... I didnt ship for 3 or 4 days. ( I live within 25 miles of triode and I wasnt allowe to just go pick it up). After receiving shipment I inventoried all the parts to find that about half was missing. The nice lady told me on the phone that there should of been a note in the box explaining that a 2nd shipment would be sent next day (there was no note in box).... I received the rest of the parts the next week...
Ok Im up and building...... things look good... I had a couple simple tech questions with reference to thier layout.... I email Chad he answers next day..(2 email exchanges total).. good still building...... (Thier website says they have great tech support)
Finally get to my first real serious tech question.... I email....... no responce.........email again........ no responce.......... send a couple pictures of the issue......... no responce.......... call tech line..... no answer..... no return phone call.................. Clearly now on my own after a week and a half of no responces.....
Thanks to a couple formites for some great tech help!

End of review.................. moral of story TRIODE Electronics has Tech Support which lacks so if you build one your on your own.....

Thats a bummer. And an issue like this is only going to be discussed online like this, spreading bad PR like crazy. I'd be all over the customer service end of things if I was the owner of that company.

Generally speaking the kit itself as compared to the company from Malaysia (Nik), lacked completeness.. Aside from the issue or missing half of the parts, once all parts were in hand it still lacked the completeness of Nik's kits. Example the little things which you don't think about, Nik supplies you with Tube retainers. Ok are they necessary maybe not in a head but in a combo they are nice. Chads kits do not come with them. Tube covers not included. Adequate wiring, by the time I was done with all the welds I was using a portion of my own wiring.... actually left over wiring from a Nik kit. Chads kit is truly simple and basic which is what your after when building a tweed deluxe. But that makes you appreciate other kits more that have those little extras..... The AC Chord in chads kit is hard wired into the chassis like the old tweeds are cept its a 3 prong chord.. Other kits have the 3 prong plug which I've come to like. On the good side of things Chads Chassis is very heavy duty stainless steel and not powder coated. I like this way better.... the etchings on Chads chassis however are easily rubbed away so be careful when handling.... where it may say in white "Standby" it may eventually read "S and y" because the t and b have been rubbed off. The wiring in Chads kit is all cloth wire which was fine for me except there was not enough ( I was very very Good about only cutting what was needed). Other kits I have done come with a little bit of all wiring including some shielded wire.... Like I said earlier I robbed some from left overs of another kit. Chads kits are maybe cheaper than other kits but it may be a thing of you get what you pay for........

That sucks.

I'm going to move this over to the amp forum jsut to keep it more on topic. This is a pretty good thread for beginning amp builders to read I think.

I know that Triode does have some fans out there and based off of those reviews I gave them a try...... But really I am kinda disappointed on all fronts. Couldn't get all the parts in a timely manor, I live 25 miles away and couldn't get my hands on the stuff for over a week...... Then when I did have a real Tech issue, Which granted is certainly because I did something wrong, I couldn't even get a response.... That's what tech support is.... They should look at a pic and say dumbass you wired this backwards and then I say thanks and then go online and brag about how great their support is..... right?

yep.

A word of mouth (or forum) is a huge thing these days in a business like that.

Good news travels fast. Bad news travels at light speed.

When we opened Premier Music my father-in-law (who has owned his business for 35 years) told me that if I do good for a customer they might tell a friend. I screw up and they will DEFINITELY tell 10 people.

Father in law is a smart man. Only thing more true, you can go a year with ZERO problems, then do something for a friend, or relative, and everything goes to shit.

I think that you can understand why the forum policies are the way they are in regards to conflict inducing content. :)

**UPDATE 7/30/13** Ok the issue after long long pain in the ass checking on why the REcto Tubes are shorting is.......... There is a Dead Short on the 5v side in the tranny itself..... Should of been something so simply to figure out but who would of thought the Brand New tranny has a dead short right? So guess what? According to Triode Electronics website the Trannies are fully warrantied. But thus far no response from Chad or Triode... Ill keep you updated.

Thats a drag.

Once again, they need to be more proactive in their customer service response. Reading this thread alone will ensure that I'll shop elsewhere.

That stinks.

Someone needs to email a link to this thread to the company.
