QR code on my tea

Seriously. Who's going to follow a QR code on the back of a tea bag that goes to some obfuscated link? MAYBE if it went to lipton.com/blahblahblah. Also, who needs more info about Lipton black tea? I mean, I guess the answer is a) more people than I would reasonably assume or they wouldn't bother, or b) the same people who fall for the Nigerian prince/grandchild in jail scam, or both.

my phone will give me a link preview before redirecting to the destination. They've become an ubiquitous method of linking documentation or marketing materials.

I received something last week that only came with a 3x5 piece of paper w/ QR code and the only text was "follow QR code for all installation instructions and product documentation"

I mean, I get that it's a marketing thing, and I guess I've just been out of it for a while, but I thought QR codes had kind of gone the way of the dodo after people realized it was way too easy to get sent somewhere you didn't want to. And yeah, I've gotten those cards too. Call me paranoid, but still not following some random link - I am more than capable of typing out urls if necessary :grin:
 
This is actually a great place for a QR code. People can scan the code and see where it goes while they steep their tea.

Tons of restaurants use the QR codes to direct you to their online menus/ordering apps.

like I mentioned, my phone shows me the URL the QR code will direct to before I click 'go' so I have pretty good idea if the destination is legit or not.
