Master of the Meh
My left wrist in the area that was operated on at the end of December has been giving me some signs of being unhappy lately, but I wrote it off as standard post-surgical healing.
Well, last night while performing what should have been a simple, low impact task in pushing the top mattress forward towards the headboard after changing the sheets, I got dropped like a rock.
As soon as I began to push, palms up, fingers pointed downward, there was a sudden very loud, very grotesque "SNAP" that instantly shot an ungodly jolt of pain through my entire arm. Oh. My. God! I can't begin to describe how badly it hurt.
My entire forearm went into what felt like the worst cramp/Charlie horse ever. My actual hand and thumb still seem to work fine, but any pressure on the wrist/forearm area is met with an instant massive cramp type feeling that is unbearable.
What's worse, is that it's concentrated precisely where the forearm tendon was cut and split off in order to use a section of it as a new base for the thumb joint in place of the removed trapezoidal bone, and when flexing the wrist backwards, there is a very clearly defined, tight lump under the skin. Having torn a tendon or two in the past, this appears pretty textbook. I'm guessing the section that is not attached to the thumb joint gave way where the split was made.
One thing for sure, my left arm/hand is useless at the moment, and every few minutes, some innocuous movement brings the fjooking fjury.
I'll have to call the Doc 1st thing in the morning and make an emergency appointment. Something tells me I'll be back under the knife by week's end.
Damnit.
