POD XT Live for multi-effects unit?

Based on GearBox, etc., I think I really dig line6 effects for delay, trem, verb, chorus, and pretty much everything but distortion and boost. I'm pretty sure I could pick up a Pod XT Live used for about $200 with a carrying case. That saves a lot of effort worrying about batteries, and power supplies, and pedal boards, and patch cables, and mess and hassle. Someone talk me out of this! Otherwise, I'm going to sell off all my non-overdrive effects and just buy a pod thing with a built-in volume/wah pedal. :embarrassed:

Using an amp.

Now that I have the kid to complicate things, I'm trying to make the rest of my life about simplicity. Less gear, less cables, less everything. You know how it is.

Absolutely.

I haven't used the XT live through an amp but my PodXT sounds like moist ass :embarrassed:

You should find one in a store where you can bring your own amp and guitar and try it that way before you buy.

I bet that's easy enough to do. Good suggestion. :)

You think your pod through an amp sounds bad?

no prob....we have a little boutique music store around the corner from my studio that lets you do that....its really a nice thing.

terrible. I would think that if you can shut off the amp modeling and just use the effects what you are trying to do might work, though.

That's kind of why the XT Live appeals to me. I believe it allows you to kill off the amp and cab models. IMHO, the Line6 effect algorithms are pretty dern good.

that should work, then. I've actually considered the DL4 but I'm not sure I have the space for it.

I did have a Duoverb head from Line 6 that I hated, though
