Peavey Classic 50 vs. Mesa Express 5:25

wagdog

Ack
Jumped between my two amps for a quick clip

Peavey goes from 0:embarrassed:0 - 0:30, express 0:30 to the end

First of all, the playing is fantastic.

Both amps sounded really good. To my ear, the Peavey seemed to have a little more depth, while the Mesa seemed a bit brighter.

I'd love to hear them run together in stereo...

Just listening on laptop speakers, but the Peavey seemed to be a little more hollow in the mids, but had a lot more top end. The Mesa sounded very smooth and balanced and seemed to pick up more of your attack and picking nuances. YMMV. :)

Thanks for your comments guys.

One of each please. I think you like the Mesa more.

Pretty obvious 'eh? I do. I really like the peavey, it's very solid, but the mesa seems to respond to everything better. Plus it actually has a usable second (third and fourth) channel.

Both good....liked the Mesa more. More depth to the tone.

Yeah, the mesa seems to cover the entire range of the guitar better.

The peavey really does have a lot of depth, but I think if you played them yourself you might feel that the mesa has more. It seems to play along with the guitar better - which I realize is a weird description, but it feels more like it's part of the whole instrument.

Stereo would be awesome - will try it w/my tonelab sometime.

That's it man, it picks up everything, and in a good way.

I'm kinda suprised but I liked the Mesa more. Just sounded more complete to me.

It has a nice "texture" to it. I played a 5:50 when I bought it, which I expected to like more 'cause I like that fender glassy 6L6 tone, but the voice of this amp just seemed bigger, rounder and fuller.
