Pancakes

Pancakes with corn meal? They call that corn bread around here. No, seriously. It's the damnedest thing.

First time someone brought it out to me, I asked why they brought me a pancake... They said it's cornbread. And it's everywhere.

Nashvegas is so confused.

Pancake - a cake made of flour (any sort), cooked on a griddle
Jonnycake - a pancake with a portion of the batter consisting of cornmeal, cooked on a griddle
Cornbread - a quick bread made of cornmeal, cooked in a pan in the damn oven

We're frying some chicken. And I'm probably gonna make a mac n' cheese and some buttermilk biscuits to go with it.

For Christmas morning I'll have a yogurt, banana, and two Eggo low-fat waffles. And a good cup of coffee.

...that sounds depressing...only because its a christmas tradition in my house to have a huuuuuuuuuuge xmas morning breakfast...

Alright, alright, enough fun-poking. A good pancake is pretty good, but all but the absolute best of them need something delicious mixed into the batter. Blueberries and pecans are my favorites. Also, if you do not use real maple syrup, you are an asshole who deserves to be stabbed by an IHOP waitress.

And if you do use blueberriess, pecans and maple syrup you deserve to "stab" an Ihopwaitress Tigers Woods stylie.

I may in fact make (vegan) blueberry cornmeal pancakes on Christmas morning. I've got a recipie I'm anxious to try. We'll probably wash them down with mimosas!

Ah, I haven't had a mimosa in years. I used to go to a place on Sunday mornings for breakfast and have a mimosa with it.

Pancakes are overrated. They are just a tasteless, spongy material used to get the maple syrup into your mouth without having to drink it or lick the plate.

*runs and hides*
