OT: Does knowing someone's political standing change your view on them?

I have a big family, lots of opinions and like El Diablo, one of them decided to tell us we needed to think a certain way about a hot subject. Unfriending is the cure. I like to debate with facts and respect a think we even with a different opinion, but I hate someone who just regurgitates something they heard a paid provocateur say.

It depends on three things: a) how loud they are about it, b) how reasonable they are, and c) whether their beliefs involve demonizing others.

Even people with whom I agree completely turn me off if they're too damned pushy about it. Anyone with more than two "position" bumper stickers on their car is automatically an asshole in my book, regardless of whether or not they're my positions as well.

I agree about being turned off by how pushy a person is even when I agree with them. It goes back to my preferring people who can present their beliefs in a reasonable and respectful manner.
