Help! Oasis Chord And strumming pattern book recommendation

Hi,

I just purchased an Oasis Chord Songbook but it has no strumming patterns written in the book so I am returning it

Can anyone recommend me an Oasis book with the chords and the strumming patterns in it so I can learn my favourite songs from my favourite band

To answer the question, you're unlikely to find that kind of thing in most commercially available notation books.

To pile on, use the strumming patterns John and George used.

Why can you not find a book like that there one of the best band to ever live I currently have to rely on my guitar teacher but I want to be able to play there so s on my own. I am not musically trained so I can’t just listen to songs and understand what’s going on I need to know the chords and the strumming patterns

Hi Tony.

Ultimately you should ask your guitar teacher to teach you not only how to play these songs but the underlying rhythmic concepts so that you can learn to play songs on your own. Most of these songs are incredibly easy if you understand how to count eighth-note and sixteenth note rhythms. In my nearly 30 years of teaching guitar I’ve found that it is always better to learn the basic skill set than it is to relearn the same material by rote for every song.

Technique, patterns and phrasing are usually absent from guitar notation, which is generally more note and tempo related. Books that discuss both "signature" technique and have notation are much rarer (but so exist for some specific artists). Often tutorials in guitar magazines and on Youtube cover the kind of stuff the OP is asking about, but it's all hit or miss. I think Youtube videos would work best in this case. I lost my computer speakers during my move, so I can't hear them to link to a good example.

As has been alluded to, the best way to learn Oasis is to learn The Beatles, who were actually one of the best bands to ever live.

"Drum" the strumming patterns on your leg to whatever song you want to learn. Then "strum" it on your leg with your picking hand. When you got it down, THEN try it on the guitar.

Everything @Mark Wein said. Keep working with your teacher and eventually you will be able to hear the difference between an up and down strum.

Seriously- when was the last time a book was purchased? So much available on the internet now.

I remember in the 80's wearing out cassette tapes.... +play+pause+rew+play+pause+rew+play+pause+rew

And the first TAB book ever purchased was like a gift from heaven.
