I picked up this 2006 Tyler "Ultimate Weapon" in Black Cherry Metallic last week and finally got around to taking pictures of it earlier today. A perfect counter-balance to my SE "Burning Water". The finish is really hard to correctly photograph - it's got deep red metallic flecks in a black base finish, and looks very subtle and cool in person. the body and neck are both mahogany. Very interesting contours on the body, IMO; sort of reminds me of the older ESP Horizon guitars with the recessed area behind the bridge. the neck is Tyler's standard '59 neck carve. 1-11/16" nut width. The fretboard is rosewood with shell dot inlays and those trademark rolled edges that i totally enjoy. Tyler makes the best necks I've ever played on. period. Wilkinson trem with locking tuners. weighs 7 lbs. 0.2 ounces. Balances like a champ on a strap or in my lap. very lively sounding guitar when played acoustically. the guitar is used, and is flawless except for the very tip of the headstock where there is a small ding and a general "fogginess" to the satin finish.
The button near the volume engages the mid-boost (adjusted via the little knob towards the back) - very handy and i'll get some use out of this feature. the mini-switches are series/split/parallel for the Seymour Duncan Full Shred pickups. The pickups sound good clean, and really seem to love an overdriven tone. they do seem to handle higher-gain settings really well (as advertised).
The guitar still needs to be dialed in properly - the guitar arrived in desperate need of a set-up. The action is still too low on the bass strings; particularly the low E. i've got the bridge where i like it in terms of alignment. just need to get those saddles raised and we'll be in business.
