NGD~ Plain top goodness...

GreatDane

"up yours, baby."
sorry for the delay getting pics taken of this, y'all. you are looking at a 1999 Gibson '59 Reissue Les Paul with what i believe to be a rare plain top (R9s normally have flamed or quilted tops) in what was once a bolder cherry sunburst, but has faded really nicely to a mix between teaburst and lemon drop. this is the perfect guitar for folks who like the '59 neck carve but don't get on with flamed/quilted tops (although i will say there's a fair amount of birdseye on this maple cap that gives it a nice character, IMO).

i have been playing the heck out of it since it arrived and it has that "perfect" Les Paul sound - tight bass with no flubby low E, very balanced across all strings, highs are sweet and articulate, overall very gutsy and punchy. the neck pickup is an instant ticket to heaven, IMO, and the bridge pickup has a tight, rude in-your-face sound that i love.

hopefully you can dig it. enough typing, here's pics.

man, that's sweet.....I've always wanted one of the '58 RI ones due to the plain tops but they are out of my range now

Veeeery nice guitar. Looks like the top has a few bird's eye swirls to make it unique.
Excellent guitar porn!
