If so, they are the first "Fender"-labelled electrics that are MIC (probably alongside the CVs). I guess since many of their acoustics are MIC, it shouldn't matter that much, but...

Anyway, I REALLY dig this Tele for $399:

interesting. One of my students brought in a "Classic Player" Jazzmaster this week that was awesome though. It was made in Mexico...
 
i'm sure people will have issues with this. they'll curse out fender and swear up and down that they'll never buy from them again. i am not one of those people. a quality product is a quality product regardless of where it's made. i buy quality.

They will but unfortunately Fender needs to do these things to stay competitive. They gave Suhr hell over his Chinese instruments and they are great as well. Products made in China don't have to suck anymore.

I'm on the same page as Howie on this one. If they are good guitars, I'd play one. Country of origin doesn't really matter so much to me. Quality is what matters.
 
I didn't expect I'd like the American Special series until I played them. Excellent quality and sound.
 
To be honest I think that Fender makes a much better product now than when I sold them in the later 90's and early 00's. I sold them for 8 years and never found anything worth owning in that entire period but I've played some nice stuff this year.

So, is it better to leave them on or to take them off?

Coming from more of an automotive background, I know how much stickerz have an affect on performance. Placing the right one in the right place makes as much difference as avoiding specific stickerz all together.

...it is a perfectly playable instrument that has given me virtually no problems in the 6 years I've owned it...

I don't give a phlying phuck where it's made as long as it's made well and works...Ive got guitars made in USA, Mexico, South Korea, China, and Indonesia...they are all decent quality instruments that do, or have been modified to do, EXACTLY what I want them to do...
 
yeah, I never got the whole importance of where it was made thing...
I mean, I get that you wanna support your home nation, I s'pose, (buy local, that kind of thing), but really...?

I think I'm gonna make up a "Made in Liechtenstein" stickers for all my guitars.

and my Behringer amp will have one that says "Made in the Marshall Islands" :lol:


also, I don't care for that Tele in the OP

When mfg in China really started exploding, there was a great article in a fly fishing mag about the all of the rods coming out of China and how significantly cheaper the overhead & labor was. One mfg rep was quoted in the article basically stating that once you got over training the workforce, the finished product could be made at whatever quality level you wanted, labor cost and overhead was relatively unchanged; IOW, if you wanted to make cheap crap you could but it wasn't implicit in manufacturing in China.

Anyhow, my Hofner is MIC and ridiculously awesome.
