New Bass Day: Unobtanium

Wow...not at all what I was expecting...

HNBD!:thu:

The only thing that would make it more you is if it were blue...

Good for you Howie, I'm happy for you...

Yeah, 30". I just can't do the full scale any longer. My elbow won't stand for it.

Peeker, it's a high quality instrument. Much nicer than the Gibson SG bass equivalent.
oh, I've no doubt about that, good sir.
but I was unaware they made shortscale basses, hence them not entering my mind.

still wish it was that Katana though

The only short scale bass they make is the Dub King. This is a prototype for the Mike Watt sig, which has been in development for a while now.

Awesome. I almost got one of those last year but I had just bought a Mustang bass.

I'm thinking some clips are gonna be necessary. The more I look at the pic, the more I like it. And I liked it a lot when I first looked at it.

Actually, I think the only reason I own my Dano bass is because of the redburst. This is another variation and totally fits my style. Also, my Precision is red, so apparently all basses in my world must be red. Or something like that.

As a side note, Talkbass is the spammiest damn forum I've ever been on. I received no less than four PMs with classified ads or ebay listings for short scale basses. Geez.

no shit!

I signed up, and deleted my acct within a few minutes.

that, and there were a lot of dicks.

I've checked a couple other places since signing on here, but never stuck with any of them
except this place.

ok, i played this thing most of the day and even got to play it through my amp. I have absolutely no idea what dirt pedal is going to work with it. But I'll bring them on Thursday to rehearsal and see what shakes out.

In the meantime, it's everything the Dano is not. There's some tonal overlap as is expected, but overall it's more Precision and the Dano is more Jazz/upright. Anybody wanna buy an MIM Precision? Local pickup only.

I've had this for a couple of days now and it's pretty unbalanced. It's not heavy by any means. I think it weighs 7 pounds or so. But definitely head heavy. Some bass forum guy had the idea to use a wireless pouch, put scuba weights in it, and attach it to the endpin. I'm going to attach it to the strap instead, but same idea.

That's nice, Howie, congrats! :)

I think I'd prefer the jack on the side, but it's not a big deal on the top. I do need to get me a short scale bass one of these days, I'll have to look into these when they come out.

you should have played it when you had the chance. you were two feet from it when you were at their shop. :)

Hmmm......
