I'm very happy with the amps I have. :embarrassed:

The Victory for the higher gain stuff and the AC30 for everything else.
Both amps really pull off everything I ask of them.

Last night we had the release concert with Papa Mule, and I used the V30 (obviously with a bunch of pedals in front and in the loop).

Gain at about 5 and using the volume pot when necessary. 3 different guitars, and I could do anything from slightly overdriven Tele to full on high gain HB lead sound with the Chapman ML1.

And the AC30 gets a lot of action when recording in particular.

I'm done with the monstrous tube amps at 50 watts and more, they're bloody useless.
And with the trouble I've had with my Fender amp (that's another thread really, I'm not buying anything from them again. The Blues Jr. now acts as a stand to get my cab off the floor. :grin:
 
That is awesome. Im Looking for an amp-trying to find one that does everything. I'm just a bedroom wanker for the time being,but want one that I can play in a band if I join one.

Yeah, I love that with the Victory. You get a bag with a shoulder strap to carry the amp, and you can carry the amp cab and one guitar in one go without destroying your back. And it sounds bloody wicked. :grin:

When I bought it, figured if it was good enough for Guthrie Govan, I'd be ok. :grin:

For leads, just throw on some mid boost and...wow.

Edit: depending on your needs, you might like a Tiny Terror or something similar, those things sound really good.

Anyone else really happy with their amp setup these days?

I mean, I can momentarily lust for a Mesa or Orange or something like that, but like guitars these days I don't really need it.

I've come to realise that you honestly only need 2 good amps to cover your needs.

The only thing I really GAS for this now is a good loop switcher, a custom made guitar and a few pedals.
Other than that I only need to get even better at actually playing the fucking things.

I really want a Dr. Z Maz 18. Really want. But there's no reason for it. First, my Allen Encore has the best clean, reverb, and tremolo ever. Second, I get all of my distortion from a variety of pedals including a double Red Llama, modded RAT, MI Audio Tube Zone, and Skreddy Hybrid Fuzz Driver. So it's not like I'm hurting for distortion here. Why do I need another amp? GAS, that's why. Stupid GAS. :annoyed:

I've often wondered about the Classic 30 stuff. I know plenty in here love them, yourself in particular.
I've never seen anyone over here play one though, which is quite weird. An American thing?

Probably an American thing. Do you guys get much Peavey stuff over there?

Honestly, the Classic 30 probably isn't going to win any awards for being the greatest sounding amp in the world. There are much better.

They are great bang for the buck (especially used) and sound pretty good both clean and dirty.

This is when I should mention that the other guitarist in Wasted does have a Maz18. But he generally chooses to play his YJM Marshall as it fits the bands' sound better. :embarrassed:

It's quite hilarious to watch though, my rig is half the size of his, and the bass player's rig is even smaller, an EBS practice amp. That's what inear monitoring does. :grin:

Can't help but think there's probably another brand that gets mid level players over here, pricing could very well do a number. Peaveys are quite expensive over here, and I think they're still suffering from their old reputation with ugly sounding yet unbreakable amps. ENGL are the shiz over here recently. I had one, but they're just too powerful for what I need. I just don't need a 50w combo. :embarrassed:

The guys with too much cash tend to get Mesas, which are ridiculously expensive over here (about twice the price as in the US).

The Maz is one of the best amps I've ever played. I'd buy one without hesitation if I didn't play one at almost every rehearsal.

I'm considering selling my bass rig, because I just don't need it. But I know two things.

1. As soon as I sell it, I'll need it.
2. I'll never get as good a deal on anything else. A Markbass LMII and GK NEO 115 III cost me $500 total. Anything I could get for less would be heavier and shittier.

So in light of those facts, I'm keeping it. :grin:

Jesus, those things sound good...

I'm also trying to get our other guitar player a better amp. The ENGL does sound nice, but really is the wrong amp for what his sound is. I'm the high gain guy, while he's the old fashioned crunch dude.

I was really surprised by the Markbass. I thought it was just whatever shit GC sold, but I almost applaud them on going all-in on the brand. I'm sure whatever bad rep MB gets over here is because of the connection with GC, not the product.

Maybe the other guitarist can buy the Maz. :grin:

MB is good stuff. No idea how well it works with pedals, but the amp itself sounds very good.
