New borrowed Taylor day.

A local friend has a Taylor Big Baby that he bought and doesn't use. He is giving me a chance to try it a bit and we might make a trade if I like it.

I need a guitar that I can take to open mics without needing the preamp and that is, quite honestly, not as rare and expensive as the Macrae. So far I like the unplugged sound; not as resonant as the Macrae but much better than the Fender acoustic I have been using. The body size is nice; bigger than the Fender and Macrae but not a full-size dreadnought. I will take it to Lost Towns Brewing tonight and see how it sounds plugged in. It would be nice to have one acoustic with the more traditional look.

It sounds great plugged in. I did a variety of styles and it worked for all of them. It looks like a trade is in the works. I think my friend figured if I was going to play in the area I had to get on the Taylor bandwagon.

The odd thing about it is the bolt-on neck. It doesn't have the standard heel that most acoustic guitars have.

Sounds like you are hooked. So, what are you thinking of giving up for the trade?

Always nice to find a guitar you like that sounds good as well> Me and Taylors don't get along but most people really like them. Enjoy!

That was my experience as well. I was surprised that I like this one so much. It probably helps that I have been playing the Fender Campfire acoustic so much lately. That is nice plugged in but not so good unplugged.
