just C&P'd my post from HCGJ:

"Minority
this was for my small jazz group arranging class. i had to write an arrangment for 5 saxes (2 alto, 2 tenor, 1 bari), piano bass and drums.

bari didnt show up on time for the recording, so its lacking some low end..

as i was fixing some parts up last night, i realized i edited some stuff and tranposed it incorrectly, so one or two bars sound really dissonant. it was unintentional.

atleast they managed to get from beginning to end with no trouble!"

this is my first arrangement ever, so its a bit rusty. ya gotta start somewhere!

thanks guys! :thu:

i thought id get a better chance of some ears over here... hcgj doesnt wanna bite.

and i should be clear, Minority is not my composition. i just wrote the arrangement based on the melody.

You did a fine job. I'm looking forward to listening to it properly at home with real speakers. :thu:

...I can only imagine having that many horn players in the same room...sounded great...I dig the little intro bit...

First instrument i started to play was clarinet, i wish i had stuck with it a bit more. :embarrassed:

That sounds pretty great to me. I didn't hear the dissonance.

I played alto sax in middle school. :embarrassed:

Your arrangement kind of reminded me of a buddy of mines album...there is one song where your arrangemet really reminds me of Martins stuff but I don't hear it on his Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/martinmtorres
